ok im on a mac, and all my mapping was going fine untill i was in the middle of making a ladder, and then all the sudden it became a door, and all the info matched the info of some random door i had running on a trigger, i was like wtf so i started checking everything, and it was saying EVERYTHING was a door! i thought it was a glitched to i excited, and then when i tried to reopen it, i hit the map name, but then nothing happens. it loads the textures ive used, but there is nothing on the grid or the 3d thing, and it still says noname.map (not the map name)
what is wrong?
-
i dont care what its telling me, i want to know how to FIX it
-
You didn't save the file in it's b0rked state, did you?
-
no i just excited, i was fine with having to remake a ladder, i just hit ok and then wehn i try to reopen it, it goes to unnamed.map

I save maps every once in a while and always use a diff number in the end of name (mapname12.map, next time mapname13.map). If something screws up, Ill just find the latest working map file.
...i just hit ok...
What "ok" did you hit?

the one that says u will loose map changes bla bla bla (ok) or (cancle) i chose ok, and then when i click the map to open it, it just goes to a blank map, but the textures i have used show up...

In the trapdoor map you have worldspawn made into a door (first in entity list (press L)). If you don't see anything, use View->Filter->Reset filters. I tried changing it back to worldspawn, then compiled and when trying to run, I get "ERROR: Map has no nodes", and I have no idea how to fix that. Look for a .bak or autosave file somewhere...
-
i have a .bak, do u need it?
-
.bak is basically a .map with diff filetype. Make a backup of it, then rename, open and check if it is broken too.

GtkRadiant already does this for you. Look in snapshots/ in your maps/ directory.

THANKS that worked, it just seeems that the .map got borked somehow, all i lose was a little ladder work...
