Title: Tremfusion's menu rework
Post by: kangounator on January 03, 2009, 11:15:51 pm
Here are the best menus you've ever seen for tremulous with oticz's (in fact it will probably be included in the next version of tremfusion). It still needs loads of tweaking but it allready usable. Some screens:

As I modified the ui.qvm a bit there also is a decent screenshot viewer
(http://img34.picoodle.com/img/img34/3/12/22/t_shot0035m_82b39ca.jpg) (http://www.picoodle.com/view.php?img=/3/12/22/f_shot0035m_82b39ca.jpg&srv=img34)(http://img19.picoodle.com/img/img19/3/12/22/t_shot0036m_93f3e3f.jpg) (http://www.picoodle.com/view.php?img=/3/12/22/f_shot0036m_93f3e3f.jpg&srv=img19)(http://img33.picoodle.com/img/img33/3/12/22/t_shot0037m_4e672fc.jpg) (http://www.picoodle.com/view.php?img=/3/12/22/f_shot0037m_4e672fc.jpg&srv=img33)

Download it here (http://www.kangounator.org/hud/z-menu-preview.pk3). (put it in your base folder and set ui_menufiles to "ui/menus.txt")
You'll need Tremfusion's client or some other client that doesn't pure check when disconnected (I believe MG's one suits too).

In a technical point of view, I'm using a Makefile and cpp to preprocess menus so that I have to type less code when making these (and also to make things more clear but it didn't quietly work). Here (http://www.kangounator.org/hud/menu-preview-src.zip) is the whole project (with broken ingame menus). You'll need a working unix thing to compile it (make, cpp mkdir and cp). To compile simply type make in the root folder. (The Makefile does not copy assets and scripts, you'll have to do it by hand.)

The sources of the ui.qvm are in the tremfusion repo (default branch).

Credit goes to: Amanieu, Chessguy, Colynn, K-otic, Mexel, Comp, Exclamation, Mexel, Hellrider, Volt, and a lot of others that I can't list here.
I'll try to set up some mirrors SOON(tm) and you should also know that the control options are made for Tremfusion's Server and MGDev.

Enjoy!

Hot menu is very hot!

But, please, find a sane image hoster... (PM me and I will setup an ftp account for you)

So who made the background image?

So who made the background image?

The same person that made the one in Oticz HUD - Moonchilde whatshisface on Deviant Art.

Yup Moonchilde-stock made that background (http://moonchilde-stock.deviantart.com/)
And if Imageshack annoys you (I don't know other image hosters) all these screens are avaliable at http://kangounator.org/hud/tremfusionmenu/

well has anyone else been able to get this to run properly? i just get a ton of menu errors; is there a ui.qvm that is  suppose to be attached. Btw I'm on vista, tremfusion .9(latest) extracted to base folder, seta ui_menufiles to "ui/menus.txt" then vid_restarted and failed, also tried packaging into a .pk3 and it also listed alot of errors.

anyways sexy as menus :D don't see why I'm being given credit, don't see  anything made by me in  ur thumbnail's. But it's nice to be mentioned :D.

Oh yeah I forgot the ui.qvm (shame on me), you'll still get loads of errors but it won't matter.
I added the ui.qvm to the .zip otherwise you can get it there http://kangounator.org/hud/ui.qvm

I fixed up Kang's original menus and have added some cool stuff to it.
Get the beta version here: http://www.tremfusion.net/~amanieu/z-tremfusion-menu-beta2.pk3
Please report any issues.

I'm not releasing the source because I don't want evil people stealing my code. >:(

Nah, just kidding. Here's the source: http://www.tremfusion.net/~amanieu/tremfusion-menu-beta2.tar.bz2

How do I install this? I copied the .pk3 to my base folder and did "seta ui_menufiles ui/menus.txt" but then Trem doesn't start (I guess is because I have an ui folder for Oticz HUD and it doesn't have menu.txt). So I reverted the changes and the pk3 is there doing nothing.

Do I have to unzip the pk3? Is it compatible with Oticz?

Don't copy it to your base folder. Copy it to the tremfusion mod folder. Then choose tremfusion from the mods menu. If you're using Tremfusion you will have to set fs_extrapaks to "".

I tested it with FSM, it worked perfectly.

All done but when I select Tremfusion on mods the screens turns black and the cursor appears duplicated wherever I move it :/

There must be some kind of ui.qvm in your tremfusion mod directory, try deleting it. And if it doesn't work try deleting every ui.qvm you see (exept the one in vms-1.1.0.pk3)

You removed the Easter egg "BIG GRANGER IS WATCHING YOU?". :(
Anyway, very nice menu. I use it and it's just marvellous.

Suggestion: Refresh list -> Get new list. Otherwise update vs refresh ~= confusion.

Actually I should probably rework the whole server list system. Having two options makes no sense.

Beta 7 of the menus is done. I beefed up the screenshot viewer and fixed a few bugs. Try it out.

EDIT: There was a bug in beta 6, beta 7 released :P

Everything is smooth and sleek. Melikes. Also, the ambient tune in the background is an even greater plus. Amazing work.  ;)

EDIT: Whenever I devmap, the menus become all screwy. Observe:

Also I cannot seem to be able to type. Only the console works.

...compiled...compiled...

You do not compile HUDs. Also, this is not Tremfusion; this is a menu set for Tremfusion.

Here, try this link. (http://tremfusion.net)

Well thats the problam when i try using tremfusion with out the menu it gives me the error 3>clipborad not found or some thing like and when i use the tremfusion menu i try to connect to a server it brings me back to the main menu and when i check the console it says many lines are in correct or files are not found thats why i want a remade version of tremfusion menu so i could download maps with normal speed and have a new menu with a new HUD. my normal download speed is 1-5 kbps D:
and i cant download maps like blackout and if i try downloading it from here it gives me the map folders with texture, scripts and more in it and i cant compile it because i dont know how AND i dont have a compiler.

I refuse to read what you wrote, because you suck at quoting and using commas. Just backup your qkey and reinstall everything.

You don't need a custom compile of Tremfusion for this.
You don't even need a custom compile of TJW's for this.

1)Download Tremfusion
2)Install it like the instructions tell you to
3)Press "Use HTTP" on the download prompt.

That's really all there is to it. Really.

IF you have anymore questions about this, please use the Troubleshooting Forum (http://tremulous.net/forum/index.php?board=4.0) so we can stop hijacking this thread. This is not at all related to these menus.

First off all i used Tremfusion with volt hud mod and because i didn't knew how to switch huds in the volt mod i had to do that manually and well i forgot raves hud name and now each time i try playing trem without volt hud mod it says an error saying ra$e hud file wasn't found. and if i knew how to repair that problem i wouldn't be "Hijacking" this thread.

Learn to post accurate error messages (try '/condump file.txt') and write readable text. Also you might want to read the readme files that come with most HUDs about installing AND uninstalling HUDs.

Uniq thats the problem ! there is NO text files ! I've searched guides on the web about that menu and found nothing helpful.
