Title: Wierd, annoying problem.
Post by: Nerdometer on January 09, 2009, 03:51:02 am
Hi, I just started mapping today, and I found a very odd problem. The first, and third time I started Gtk ( 1.5 ), all the walls started to stretch and move around in a weird way. I have a screeny of the same object, both bugged, and normal. Can anyone diagnose this problem?

Bugged

Here's the normal one

Hope it's fixable.

im pretty sure that looks like a hall that was made so long it screwed up gtkradiants depth perception.....maybe dont make really extremely long halls?

if this isnt the problem its something with the program on your computer

Well, I also had a small area, two cubes and a rectangle connecting them, their textures and all that stuff was messy even then. Should I reinstall or what should I do? Really looking forward to mapping.  :o

I get the same sort of problem in the ET:QW map SDK.

try using 1.4, its almost the same with a couple different tools, and is much better then 1.5 and less complex.

its your graphics card, some ati cards do that, like mine until i upgraded, i had a sapphire x1600 pro.

there is no fix afaik, i only got the error when i rotated brushes, or selected models, pressing s with a regular brush selected would 'fix' it until i selected another model.

Try NetRadiant (http://www.icculus.org/netradiant/). If it doesn't go away, it is probably the issue n.o.s.brain is describing. NetRadiant is a bit more stable than vanilla GtkRadiant 1.5 and might have this problem fixed. Considering 1.5's age and the fact that NetRadiant has fixed more bugs than caused, there is no reason to use version 1.5 of GtkRadiant.

Well, thanks for all the help guys! I'll go check out that NetRadient now, and see how that works.

Well, that was a fail solution. NetRadient does the same exact thing.

Then it is your video card drivers.
