I just downloaded this game today so I am sort of new. The thing is I don't get how to find games. When I start up the game it goes to the menu, then to the server screen, then it says (Looking for -1 servers). It then just keep doing that so I was wondering is this normal and if not how do I fix it so I can join a server?
-
That happens when the masterserver is unreachable. Causes may be lack of internet connection or the server being down.
Solution usually is going online respectively waiting a while until the server is up again. Then just get a new list.
For the while being you may type this in console: \connect 213.239.197.132
to join one of the db@ servers (if you are in europe), or... \connect 72.36.226.187
...to join tjw in US... ;)

Change the "Source" to "Internet" and click "Get New List".
The default Source was "Local" in the 1.1.0 release.

\connect 213.239.197.132
broadcast: print "server: \connect 213.239.197.132\n"
Hitch warning: 1876 msec frame time
Hitch warning: 560 msec frame time
That is what happens when I go to use the code in the console it is set to internet. And when I click get new list it does the same -1 server thing. It has been doing this for over 2 hours. Here a pic of the screen http://i3.tinypic.com/15ouon8.jpg

Anyone? I realy could use some help with this. Also I noted when I went to go play Warcraft3 it had a problem with the servers on that as whell. I am connected to the internet, other people are using the server fine, and when I click new list it still does the same -1 server thing. Sorry for the double post.
-
doesnt Hitch warning show only on servers console?
-
No it doesn't look at the previous picture that is pretty much what it looks like whenever I hit refresh/get new list. Also I noticed this happens on all my other games like Warcraft3 and Gunz: The Dual so if anyone know where on my comp the setting is for this feel free to tell me.

maybe reconfigure your firewall

Ya but when I use hardwire the game still doesn't work.

That should solve it.

No it is set to that and everything. Also I noticed I can't in this game, Gunz, Warcaft3, or any other online game.

I suspect you're behind a NAT/firewall. Maybe your ISP is blocking it. I'm not sure how proficient you're with computers, so I'm assuming you're good and have checked for Windows/software firewall and tried looking at the router config. One more thing.. when you use wireless, you should be behind a router.

Ok if my ISP is blocking it how would I fix that because I don't have a firewall.

look, you are using wireless right ? Now how do you connect to Internet using WiFi. You would need an access point right ? APs are router + radio signal transceiver. And most routers have built in firewall. Now you need to get into this router config interface and setup port-forwarding or whatnots. I'm not sure what Trem requires for net configuration and what it doesn't. Maybe it supports UDP maybe it doesn't.
What I did on my config:
make a shortcut (or create an autoexec.cfg if you know how to):
"D:\Program Files\Tremulous\tremulous.exe" +set net_port 6732 +set net_qport 6735
and in your router open/allow traffic on port 6732 and 6735. Up to you really what number you want to use. Just make sure you dont bother with the common ports (HTTP 80, FTP 21 .. etc.. google is your friend). I chose those numbers because I'm behind a shared router and I have a pool of 6700-6800 setup for myself.

Ok I went and did all of that and it still didn't work. I honestly don't know what is wrong with my computer now.

my freind is having same problem

I had to forward port 30720 to receive the serverlist, else it would just not display any and when opening the console it wrote something like "could not get server list ping above 800 ...".
Also it seems that you need to have server specific ports open to find people playing on servers that use different ports than 30720, else the very practical search tool won't find them.
Hope this helps somebody.
