Title: .map file database?
Post by: mathchamp on March 22, 2009, 06:54:12 pm
Is there a place you can find the original .map files for most of the maps (or at least the 8 default maps)?

Adding the .maps is completely to the discretion of the mapper. Open up the .pk3 with winzip or winrar, and check the "maps" folder. If it's there, it's there. If it isn't, it isn't. You can decompile a map's .bsp, but that results in texture distortion. Here's a link to help you with decompiling: http://tremulous.net/forum/index.php?topic=4181.0 (http://tremulous.net/forum/index.php?topic=4181.0)

I've included some .maps in some of my pk3 releases.
feel free to tinker.
Please make them original enough so i don't feel ripped off. ;)

It would be very nice if someone would sponsor a .map repository. getting started is the hardest part of map making IMHO.

If anyone wants my .maps, they can just send me a message. :D I just don't want to bloat the .pk3 file size with them (albeit it's a small file size).
