Title: Is there a cvar to make your server not appear on the master list?
Post by: Celestial_Rage on April 01, 2009, 01:21:34 pm
Hey,
I host my own server, but it doesn't show up on the master list even though it says "sending heartbeat to master.tremulous.net." Furthermore, if I connect to it using my IP, it connects. So, is there a cvar to make your server not appear on the master list?

Does your server show up at master.tremulous.net (http://master.tremulous.net)? You might not see your server if it is hosted on same pc (maybe even whole local network). The cvar is "dedicated", 2 makes it show up on master IIRC.

If its sending heartbeats, then it should be on the list.
My guess would be your server isn't accessible from the internet.  Have you set all the firewalls right?

You probably can't see it since many routers suck at NAT. If you post the server name here we can confirm or deny that it is up.

Actually, all routers or most of them will work if you know what your doing.  For instance, with a modem, all is required is bridge mode, then enter login information in the web interface of the router.
But myself, I use the modem/router netopia.  Great routers.

But back on topic, give us the IP of the server, and we will see if we can breach the server.

I think you meant "reach"... ;)

It doesn't appear on the master list. you can connect to it using hm-mm.no-ip.biz. If I do ./tremulous.x86_64 +connect hm-mm.no-ip.biz but it doesn't appear on the master list...

Code: [Select]
master@tms2 [~]# qstat -tremulous hm-mm.no-ip.biz:30720
ADDRESS           PLAYERS      MAP   RESPONSE TIME    NAME
hm-mm.no-ip.biz:30720  0/-1  0/0      atcs    103 / 0  base =PK:| Clan Server

So the master can connect to your server, but it doesn't seem to be getting any heartbeats from you.  So that's firewall issues in reverse to the normal?
Can you get a new list fine?

As in when I click on Get new list, it updates? Yes that works. It says its sending heartbeats
