When/if 1.2 comes around, will there be any significant changes to the UI? I'm mostly curious as far as the menus go.
-
There's going to be a help menu added, also some HUD changes (new health icon, luci, pounce and trample charge bar). Maybe a whole new hud too.
EDIT: See the WIP 1.2 hud for yourself: http://jex.vilkacis.net/trem/zzz-1.1.1.pk3

or just a picture (http://jex.vilkacis.net/trem/shot0027.jpg) if you don't want to go to all the bother.
-
That looks really nice. :)
Do you think you might include options to change the transparency of some of the elements, and maybe even the ability to move things around? Or are all these things better left for a custom HUD?

Hate to be a critic but here it goes.
I prefer my HUD to have essential stuff (HP, BP, ammo, credits/evo, poison, stage, kills for next stage) bundled in the center-low part. It's the place where I can see it all quickly without taking my eyes off the action. Less essential stuff includes icons for armor and equipment, which are fine on the side of the screen, but also low. Time and FPS are fine on top-right, as well as chat on top-center. See the Volt HUD for a fine example.
Having stuff spread all around the corners and edges does not help. Having cute outlines of human equipment and a HP bar is pretty but useless.
I like the idea of the pounce/trample charge bar though.

@ Urcscumug: Make a custom HUD.
-
I probably will but the point was to make the default HUD better.
-
It's called constructive criticism Plague Bringer. Urcscumug just gave some useful suggestions about how to improve the HUD. Personally I don't agree with them but they were well presented and generally had some reasoning behind them.
Not only that but it seems rather preposterous to ask someone to design a third party HUD for a version of a game that hasn't even been released. I think someone is being a silly monkey.
-
Urcscumug: HUD depends a lot on each players own preference, what may be good for you may not be good for someone else.
-
Personally, I think the new HUD looks wonderful, but how well it plays is to be decided. As Urcscumug before me said, it may be a bit too much information. There should be a choice of HUDs to start off with. Perhaps a simplified 1.1 type HUD can be bundled with the new 1.2.

Different one with explanation.
