Title: Crosshair Pack
Post by: Superpie on May 16, 2009, 08:49:26 pm
Just a few crosshairs I threw together, based on the default ones.

Download (http://superpie.info/zzz-superpie-xhairs-1.1.pk3)

When you download this it will be a single file, a zzz-superpie-xhairs-1.1.pk3, NOT a folder. If it appears as a folder when you download it, try a different web browser.

To install it just place it in your base folder.

Server Owners:
Please download the 1.0 version (http://superpie.info/zzz-superpie-xhairs.pk3) if you are semipuring this mod, I made a mistake when I originally put it up and had to create a new version to correct it. Please semipure both so that we aren't leaving out people who downloaded the first one.

*disclaimer: this screenshot was photoshopped from the .tga files, they look better in-game imo (especially the md crosshair dunno what happened there)

Probably a pre existing visual mod is fighting back here.

This is like my 2nd time downloading a SuperPie special =). The last time I just spammed all my base folders..

Thanks these are 1337.

Thanks will do.

Hey, when I download it it's a .rar, what do I do extract it or rename it? I want to stop my "spamming and then it works and who cares about the mess" habit.. Thanks guys.

Here it downloads as a .pk3, hmm...
What you could do is see if the .pk3 file is inside the .rar file. If not, extract it, zip it, and rename the .zip file to .pk3.
That should do it.

Your Operating System is just suggesting to you that it might be .rar but as you can see from the links the ending is .pk3 and all pk3s are in reallity renamed zip files. But since you do not need to open those files it doesn't matter one bit what they are.

Just do "save as..." and save it.

Again, your choice in web browsing software is insufficient.

Or Opera or Safari.

Doesn't work on Safari. Thats just why I keep firefox for backup! Well anyway, the shotty and psaw crosshairs dont work, and I don't get anything where the crosshair is supposed to go. Does this work with 1.2 GPP, because that could be the problem, and it probly is. I unziped the pk3 and looked around and saw that the Psaw and the shotty both have additional mods to them other than the crosshair (there are script files for just those two). Considering this, I deleted the files and compressed the folder and renamed it to a pk3. But it didnt' work at all, so I'm figuring there is some other way to compile a PK3. How?

This is the reason why I was going to add those two browsers, but decided against it.

Don't mess around inside the .pk3 for now. Just rename the .zip to .pk3 and put it in fs_homepath/base. After that try /devmap atcs, where it should work. Don't expect it to work on other servers, the owner of the server you play on has to allow use of the .pk3 for it to work.

You're missing the point. Everything works but the shotgun and the psaw, which are conviniently the only two with scripts for them in the pk3. I want to modify the pk3 so it will work. I will try to make the shotgun and the psaw coded the same as the ones that do work, and recompile. How to recompile a pk3?

Ah, you just add everything that was in the .pk3 into a zip archive, and then rename it to a .pk3. So you did it right if that is all you did, it just isn't working for some other reason. To prove this, try to break one of the other crosshairs in the .pk3, if you succeed in breaking it, then the other two crosshairs must be misconfigured somehow.

Thats what I thought. Just to test if it worked, I unzipped the original and rezipped the new one without doing anything. (On a mac, right click/compress) After renaming it so it looks identical to the old one, I find that it doesn't work and the new one is a slightly bigger filesize than the original. Since everything else is the same, I'm assuming that Macs don't zip them properly to work in Trem. What program to use to zip the files so they work?
