I have just read this (http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=120673), and I am wondering now if I should take the chance to run a Tremulous server.
I am wondering if you people would agree with me doing this, because you don't think my ISP will shut me down, or if you don't agree, because you think my ISP will shut me down. I would get in a LOT of trouble if I got my internet shut down, because my dad does a lot of business on the internet.
That thread is making me rethink my decision about trying to host a server...
Should I go for it?

Depends on if you wanna live in a cave for the next ten years... ;-p
Seriously: If your dad needs internet access to do his business DO NOT do anything that puts that access at risk.

Okay, thanks.
I'll try to come up with another solution...

Unless your server becomes insanely popular they probably won't notice/bother/care to do anything, and even if it does become super popular they still most likely won't do anything.
That said, it is always better to be better safe than sorry, especially if your internet service is something your dad needs for his job. I'd take a guess and say you probably don't really need a server, and I wouldn't advice you on taking this risk.

They will block the ports once. then send a letter then shut you off. read comcasts fucking terms of service.

Wow there, try maturity and not being so zealous, especially when you are wrong. (I know multiple people who have home hosted popular servers off comcast internet for around 6 months without anything happening.)

i know a dude who ran two websites and ftp server a chat room open nap and a torrent tracker for a little over two years. but comcasts policy (which they dont enforce unless you piss them off) is the above.
