Recently, I have found that some good players (ie. players who tended to be at the top of the kill list) on occasion will go battlegranger, using the spit against the human base. Previously, I have always made a point of getting battlegrangers denybuilded (except in SD mode 1 when the OM is down). Now I am not so sure about this. What are the (legitimate) reasons a player might want to go battlegranger and why? Are most players of the opinion that battlegranging is always bad?

- Slowing down humans with spit, making them easier to pounce.
- Distracting humans from higher value targets ("Ooh, easy credits!").
- Boredom/unsubtly telling the other team that they suck and aren't being taken seriously. :P

Yeah, extra fun: When you are on the way to raze the enemy base but it will take quite some time or it is not SD yet and they are camping like crazy. Also, the basi spit has a nice, ballistic curve and poisens them, when you have visited a booster shortly before.

Also, they are great at reactor hopping some bases, you just have to be very patient.

This isn't exactly "battlegrangering," but if I'm building and humans come near my base, lobbing a few spit balls can have quite an effect in slowing them down and making them easier for goons and the like.

There are even a few players out there who will build acid tubes inside a human base when the aforementioned boredom sets in.

Gotta love them close-vicinity-hives. Preferably on the underside of a platfrom style human base, so they can not destroy it without jetpack or dying when falling past them.

I always have tried to that. I know i shall never ever be pro until i master the granger jump :P

You should've seen xgs on Amsterdam Unlimited, basically it's granger spit on steroids.
You could change the "firerate", projectile speed, lifetime and many vars. There also were presets, such as the kamikaze granger that killed itself and an adjacent human, or the sniper granger.
Too bad it's taken off :<

I've seen some pretty decent Battlegrangers in my day, and used to be one.
On lagged, you can just circlestrafe and spit on them and occasionally move in for a bite.
Unlagged makes this much harder, but can still be managed.
Grangers can actually be ideal for surfing turrets if you're low on evos.
With one granger, and some luck, you can get about three rets in an unattended base.
Most of this means nothing because if you're really considering this for a public game, you're a silly feeder noob who needs a good !denybuild.
Unless you're me.
Which it is.

Spitting people attacking your base is handy, as it makes them sitting ducks for your teammates to eat. Also inflicts poison

Boredom.
No matter how effective I am with the thing, the only reason I ever do it is because I've squeezed the last drops of fun out of all the other classes.
A couple of days ago was a good example:

For once the battlegranger is appreciated ;)
