Title: Why oh why?

Why did you(the devs) set the default rate to 3000? Me and my clan hate having to tell noobs to do /rate 25000 in their console, while they lag and warp across and are impossible to hit, and have pings of over 400.

bump.
Yes, something like 10000 would be nice. I dnot know anyone playing online with less than 10KB upload.

um.. rate wouldn't really cause warping unless you set it so high it overloads your upstream. The one I think you're referring to is /snaps which is how many times per second the client updates the server. Default is 40.

As a sidenote if they have a ping of 400 then there is something seriously wrong with their connection, 56k would top off at 350 max.

Q3 Default rate was set to 3000, it just got carried over. This is fixed in the SVN (along with an options menu >_>).

You mean an options menu in the main menu?
