How do you guys feel about bouncing barbs? I love em, simplest best feature ever.

I think they allow noobs to not have to aim properly, and only lob them in the general direction of where they intend it to go. :P

I don't like them because it makes a lot of normally good and sturdy bases alien fodder.

Depends on implementation. I've seen ones that bounce a lot until they hit, which as already said make it too easy for aliens.

i think they are cool, and useful for getting into hard-to-reach places, but really, in maps like atcs, they really do make the best sturdy bases goon fodder. apply that to already having advanced goons, which are very good units anyway, in stage 2, and you have a bias to aliens. maybe include them for the stage 3 advanced goon, but not the stage 2 one? just a thought.

in 1.2 it's pretty fair, cause human weapons work differently now.

I don't like bouncing barbs. It's not hard for adv dragoons to take out a base as is. The barbs can affectively take out turrets and dragoons can easily get out of danger with their epic jumps. With bouncing barbs they could potentially never enter the line-of-site of any human making it overpowered in my opinion.

Bouncing barbs also end up hitting you when you least expect it, like when you move round a corner a barb hits you in the face.

And I agree with Fish, X-20 and Bulletsjohn about the bases being easy to take out. All dragoons have to do is barb a wall at an angle to ensure the barb enters the base (if it's just round the corner).

Traditional barbs force aliens to have Line of Sight when sniping but it means that anyone inside of the base can hit them. Humans have far better projectiles than aliens. So, aliens are outgunned. This makes camping inside of base difficult to counter, even with long range barbs on advanced goons.
Bouncy barbs can bounce off walls. That means you can hit structures that outside of Line of Sight. This is important because it means that humans can't easily target their attacker. Actually, all the humans have to do is STEP OUTSIDE OF THE BASE to kill the goons. This should be happening anyway but whatever. Bouncy barbs force humans to work a little harder to camp and killing advanced goons is only marginally harder than killing regular goons.
Bouncy barbs also rout humans standing still or camping a single location because they don't immediately disappear on contact. So, humans have move around to dodge the barbs. They are the closest thing to a grenade without being a true grenade for aliens. Considering how lucifer cannons have a huge blast radius and damage, barbs are far less threatening to a base. They just make the game more interesting in my opinion.

Oh GOSH, they make you be able to see the target you are sniping??
All sarcasm aside anything that bounces more then once, like I've seen on many servers that have bouncing barbs is a bit ridiculous imo.

It takes skill to bounce the barbs just right. That's why its such a simple but cool mod. It adds a layer to advanced goons without any extreme change.
You can be a noob and use them just like regular barbs but a good player can do a lot with it. It forces humans to work slightly harder than spam out of the base because the barbs don't require LOS. So they just have to kill the goon which unfortunately means they might have to leave the base. Sorry you can just wait for aliens to suicide into a base plus defenders just to do damage.
And don't talk about fair because luci's and their huge splash damage isn't that fair either.
