Got to love that pulse rifle. The only problem I have with it is that the texture on the scope doesn't seem to fit with the others on the gun.

Do you have any idea how much a new Pulse Rifle costs these days? Thousands of credits, thousands! But we can get them in used condition pretty damn cheap by digging through crashed shuttles and deployment ships. Besides, they just don't make guns like they used to.

Yeah superpie, look at poor Leon now. Ever since the new rifles have been used, all Leon's been getting faulty rifles which he can't aim with. I mean I watched him play and he has to use up all his ammo hitting a dretch while doing a magnificant dance around goons and tyrants.

Also, the humans better get a uniform change we're not seeing. Both the luci and the blaster have the same red color, I'm seeing a sort of pattern and it definitely would not fit with the 1.1 'cliché green' uniform.

I'm pretty sure Tumbo Corp. does the rifles, and I'd assume the shotguns and chainguns too. Maybe the flamer and grenade. I imagine Lucifer Co. works with blasters, the Lucy (obviously), probably the pulse, too. I've always felt the las gun is kind of a sport rifle. I figure the same company manufactures the las and MD. Painsaw might be a modded (or not) mining/deforestry/construction tool, or it might be developed by Tumbo or independently?

One thing that bothers me is that you can clearly see the jagged polys on the "Demon Core", so I suggest just adding a few more polys on that sphere.

WUUUUUUT even in trem you can set the gun on left side, or center, the cvars are just cheat protected so try in devmap: cg_gunX, cg_gunY and cg_gunZ. cg_gunY 11 for left side (only works for 1st person view).

I prefer the photo shop picture without the plate. Like Moose said, there doesn't seem to be any logical reasoning why the blaster has to be bigger then it needs to be. It's supposed to be a small, compact weapon.

the aliens i think all look good, but a little bit of polish here and there for me wouldnt go amiss. Most of them i think need re texturing (dretch) and the actual models need a little tweaking.
Im very happy with 1.1 alien models. Just i think with a tiny bit of effort they could look quite a bit better, or at thhe very least, fresh.

I hope the new rifle render is an old/WIP one. Model is indeed nice, but texture seems quite blurred and "flat" compared to new luci.

on rainbow six vegas/2 you can put scopes on your shotties ( i dont see why you would though) if anything i would put a laser sight on, so it would increase the aim a bit, even though shotties are built for spread, but if that spread of decreased a bit, it could prove very nasty.

Guys, we've got space travel, no need for camo! The hand skin was the first thing made for the new models, its old and ugly and going to be changed.
Red-dot sights aren't scopes. Anyway, the shotgun hasn't had a red-dot for a while, I took it off long ago.
The Demon Core is what powers the blaster.
I didn't use brown on the skins. The closest thing would be tan.

In console type /cg_shadows 2 for stencil shadows or /cg_shadows 3 for projection shadows.
I think the screenshots use projection shadows because they lack self-shadowing.

Electricity texture on the tag. Otherwise it won't export.
The shadows are very location dependant and really only look good with screenshots.

cg_shadows 2 and 3 both suffer from vis culling issues. You can see them through walls in some cases(see atcs for example).
Speaking of shadows, Stannum, how do you paint in the shadows for the weapon/character textures(since almost nothing is real-time)? Do you just start with an ambient occluded uvmap or something?

We also have server-side mod on this moment. It anyway support bonuses, arcade-like movement and other stuff. But we want some more. On this moment while our server admin making new server for better perfomance we working on client-side mod part. =) After we make stable version mb introduce to our mod gonna be posted on trem forums. =)

I have to say, those models made for 1.2 look much better in quality. it seems to have much bigger poly count and it has all kind of that things. I don't like the lasgun look tho. and the shotgun plus scope? No thanks. Lasgun could be just a little updated, but not made from scratch. A new flamer lamer needs a new model 100%. I can see that the devs only made a new thing that will come out from the flamer lamer - the almighty muffins with some candies on it. muffin-thrower FTW!!!

Still, they don't fit on every trem weapon. They look too... too... precise? first time i saw the shotgun i tought its actually chaingun or the rifle.

Speaking of shadows, Stannum, how do you paint in the shadows for the weapon/character textures(since almost nothing is real-time)? Do you just start with an ambient occluded uvmap or something?
I use an ambient occlusion map rendered in max for shadows. I overlay it over the diffuse texture.
Diffuse, diffuse + ao, final (contrast, sharpening etc)

the models of humans seem to be going good, and the aliens models?
I believe that the models of the aliens need some adjustments(exemple: they do not move your head,attack only in one direction, walk and some others animations), and if possible, it would be interesting if the aliens had an appearance more silimar monsters, the models of the human will have a good improvement, I think that the aliens could not stay out.
the community could even help in the creation of new models.

As I said, the new models seem to be more proffesional (better textures, more polys). The aliens must be remadeand see if it will do some good. currently aliens havn't been changed in this game since it was quake 3 mod. The devs have really trained their hand at modelling and I suggest remaking the aliens just due to the better skill of devs.

That looks very nice! :o Only criticism is the door behind human base, possibly too high steps on the stairs (also at human base), and the lights on lower floor sides illuminating the ceiling (entity lights?).

Off topic: It ranges from the southeastern United States (southern Virginia and eastern Maryland) to Argentina, growing wherever the climate is warm enough and has a relatively high average humidity.
On topic: Looks, nice, the scope is a bit low poly, but I have no idea the poly number so maybe you are getting too high. I really don't have any real feedback besides that other than it looks awesome and I can't wait to get to use one myself!

I personally think the scratches are overdone, but that's just my personal preference. ;)

Maybe it should be (but it would require adding code) that there are no scratches on the weapons when you buy them, but after you fight a bit with them (especially when they hurt you), the scratches appear.
The version that is out is the 1.2 GPP. It is sort of a hybrid 1.1/1.2 (1.1 gfx/sfx, 1.2 gameplay [still being balanced]). Obviously, the GPP client is newer than the vanilla 1.1 and other basic (tremfusion != basic in this sense) 1.1 clients in ways other than simply connecting to GPP servers instead (bugfixes, new bugs :P, options menu on main menu, etc.). The GPP serves to balance the gameplay changes between 1.1 and 1.2, while the rest of 1.2's new features are under development.
You're going to have to wait a looong time for 1.3.

It isn't an acog reflex sight. Height doesn't really matter with holographic sights, just zero them in properly. The rifle is comparable in size to a h&k g36c. A fn scar is a bit bigger than that.

I changed a few things, I modified a bit of prifle's ACOG(size) and bullet colors(like a defalt), i modified a little the size of lgun and changed a bit a blaster, the color is just a personal taste, there will nescessidade to change them ;D

The blaster does not have ammo, the ammo counter merely displays what your primary weapon is holding while the blaster is out.

Well, i have a doubt the new humans weapons and the "zoom" bottom removed on ggp, some weapons (like rifle, pulse, MD, etc...) will have the zoom view (1,5X) like others games (i mean, Crysis, Fear2, COD, etc...) or only the MD have the zoom ability?
by the way... i don't if the expression "holy shit!" it's correct or not (i mean, "WOW very nice work!", i don't maen "what a sh** work"...).

Why? Many other games do it, and their shotguns hold far more than 8 shells (cough halo). And this also leads to the ability to fire partially filled rounds.

If you guys look at the current battlesuit, it doesn't really hold weapons, more they are attachments that get screwed onto its arms. Look at a chaingun or luci on a naked human, then on a battlesuit. Lots of stuff isnt there

@Paradox, Well the unarmored human seems to be actually holding it so tight like a rookie in military. You can't really see the guns buttstock or anything. The battlesuit is like a real badass - I can hold guns in one hand because this suit gives me super much energy, Die tyrant, die. but in the same time guns like psaw and blaster look so small... blaster couldn't even been seen unless you are spectating someone who has gone to toilet while playing tremulous.
@wolfbr, probably... green is the only color that fits for jungle operations and stuff. Yes I am trying to say in-game stuff should be more equal to real life.

If you have played half-life 2 you will probably see some similarity. It's kinda looking almost the same.

Also, that is light armour + helmet, so I don't see a point why do you have to remove the helmet nor the shoulder pads... color? Yes, it should be changed, the brown one is kinda not enough camouflaging for humans.

I liked the dretch... The dragoon was kinda too dark to see its whole body. Tyrant is something like spidermans black suit thingy. The battlesuit might be more like in the forum, it looks awesome there.

I like what Stannum did with the pulse rifle's reload animation.
He made it cool, unique, and he gave pulse rifle an actual use (aside from lagged players playing like it's lagged in an unlagged server).

Devs don't seem to want help, alltough it's open-source code all the code for 1.2 is kept secret, and it will be until Thursday.

Heh, I started modeling like a week ago, I can't make anything that has a texture on it and I ussualy make loads of unneeded polys. in other stuff my modeling skills are quite high for the first week.

I'd just like to say i've always found that although KorX's gameplay is garbage, their developers have a LOT of potential.
Even though the flying alien KorX made reminds me exactly of a dragonfly, the fact they got the wings to animate and they made a fairly decent use for it amazes me. Thumbs up for KorX, I honestly wish I knew how to code in C to help develop with them.

@Stannum: I've heard that you have difficulties getting quality pple to model things, has the idea of a modeling competition been floated? I know that a while ago there was a map making competition, it actually presented some good work. Maybe, if it hasn't already been done or thot of and rejected, be something that might be worthwhile. Just a thought. Unless you are so close to being complete that it would take more time to get the comp up and running than it would to complete your work for 1.2.

Moddb and Quake unity is the only sites that have something normal. Urban Terror gets boring after 10 games, alien arena is very dumb and its actually Q2 mod, Reaction quake 3 is weird, Gundam universe crashed for me (don't know why), Bid for power is... Well I haven't tested it, Xreal... Exreal ain't a mod, isn't it?
Tremulous and Smokin' Guns (www.smoking-guns.net) are the only Quake based stuff that I can play adnd I don't get bored. FPSbanana is full of shit, that mostly do not work or look like crap. So, all we have to do is wait for the epic models, If they will never be released, we are gonna hack their data base, Get 1.2 and play happy :)

If you'd done your research, you'd realize the project is all but dead, the masterserver is even denying pings. This, coupled with the fact that the project is a standalone based off a different engine, makes me wonder why you even bothered showing this to us.
I at one point was looking at Xreal with amusement and wonder... But as you can see from these quotes, I too was sent crashing back to reality...

I would not suggest to make tremulous in a new engine, but, they can be improved graphically, and that there are experienced people who work on older technologies(see mod database and fps banana).

I don't know if it's just my eyes playing tricks on me, but the models look more rounded/smoothed out than 1.1 models. On those guns at least. That's probably the thing that bothers me the most about Trem: it's blocky-ness and the quality of textures...

To be quite frank, if the doubters are too lazy to pull their finger out their ass and look at the screenshots already provided as well as the public source repository, they can go play with a moving train, their 'argument' holds no basis but I believe that has already been proven several times.
Whether the tremulous source is in XReaL or not doesn't matter. There isn't acceptable art (the 1.1 art is way underspec) and as it stands the 'port' is dead in the water anyway.

I didn't have the pics on that computer.
I had some shots that showed off the nade's glowing, but none taken quite well enough.
I also did a shot of a granger using HDR/Bloom that didn't look like shit, but I forgot to close the console, so I didn't upload that one.
These are mostly to show off the rather impressive lighting changes.
It's worth anyone's time to try and compile their own copy of XReal Trem; be forewarned though, the ui system needs to be fixed, so no HUDs or menus for you.
It's still neat though, as is Quake2World.

i worked with Xreal for a while and i did play with the tremulous inside the source...
also Thorn had made bumpmaps and lightmaps for all textures in temor.. so there is an updaet you cant see.
its very slow, i got average 50 Fps, when shooting it would jump down to 40-30 Fps, and with other users it would be a fps lag fest....
That was on a dual core 1.5 MHz computer
The developers i know for a face
1. Wont port evar
2. are patching the source and constantly trying to improve graphics...
they already have done that very well as you can see by the new models.

Depending on your hardware, it can run faster than the original ioq3 renderer.

Xreal doesn't have that big of a performance hit, to be honest.
If you turn all of the effects on (bumpmapping, HDR, etc.), you'd get some low framerates as expected; with just dynamic lighting though, it runs the same as the Trem we have come to expect.
The only problem I could see is the raising of minimum specs to run the game, but, my netbook is qualified to run Xreal, so I think most computers will be.
Anyways, not happening anytime ever, but it's still nice to think about.

Some things:
* Gas canister looks very plain, a warning sign or something would make it look more detailed.
* Same applies for the top metal bar-like thingy.
* It now looks even more fragile than it was without a texture :-\

He is a graphics-fag, recommend him to play Crysis or FarCry 1/2 - Those games have good graphics but not-so-well-developed gameplay, but he won't even see that because the graphics will be his main attention.

It's just a small testing map with grid lines so I can measure stuff out.

No idea, not really my department. The build I'm using to test stuff has some outdated stuff. Pretty sure 1.2 has a different hud.
I'm kinda happy about the flamer effect in general now. Still a lot of tweaking to do to fix up some minor stuff. It does look a lot better in motion though.

None of the guns have ACOG sights :/ Besides, I think such mechanical scopes are out of date anyway, Trem is set in the future - think of digital camera like scopes:
* Built into the gun
* Pressing a button gives you 1x, 2x, 4x etc. zoom.
* There is a cross in the middle of the screen to indicate the center, in this case it would be iron sight replacement.
* As it's near future, futuristic stuff like night vision and other filters can be added on the camera/screen.

Do you even know what is an ACOG?
Rifle and Prifle has reflex sights, and Mdriver seems to have some kind of futuristic high optic sniper scope.
ACOG looks like this, it is attachable to any weapon which has it's necessary rail.

Indeed, it's quite interesting, as the rifle and prifle (or was it lasgun?) have this empty reflex sight, ussually reflex sights are smaller without anything in the middle for weapons with big spread (like shotguns), while assault rifles and others get stuff like red-dot sights and Eo-tech sights. If you don't know how some of the sights look like, just google it.

in tremulous, if you play a human, you are not all the time dancing with monsters, sometimes you get away, providing support to other players.
in these situations, the zoom help(like Md zoom, it is also useful for killing little monsters).
its more for fun factor, you only use if you want(like MD zoom).
maybe the aliens can use zoom, it would be more useful for spying on humans, rs.

Unique viewpoints ain't nothing new, like NS 2 mouth cam. Another example is very old Dungeon Keeper, where some creatures had their own sight (like fly had honeycomb type view, or vampires saw only black and white and in-between of these color shades.) And it was still playable on 1st person, in all creatures.

My only complaint being that armor and bsuit should be in the same place since you'll only ever have one appear. The helmet (:battlesuit:?) overlay is awesome, though. I've always wanted one. It'd be awesome, I think, to have a tinted visor overlay for the helmet, though.

does the weight of the weapon is unbalanced with the big box(much weight on the right is almost impossible to aim well), and another thing, the box is too big for a weapon that has only 8 shots of ammunition.
tremulous is happening in the future, but in an apocalyptic future,limited mineral resources, lots of recycling(If you notice, the weapons have a texture of being old, such as human building, or act textures). This explains the system of credits, it would be easier to give the best weapons for all the soldiers if it was possible : ).

I asked volt about this, it's not a model its a animation shader, basically since he wasn't going to wait around for the models to be done he used the claws image renders from Stannum site along with the map zap video to put together a image sequence. That he then converted to shader animation sequences for trem. So curved but pixelated outline is expected..., he said he's working on making it look more natural. But stop assuming things, makes you look like an ass later on :P

Ok, I have to apologize again. That image i posted was photoshoped it was a mock design, But he says that he has it working ingame and he made sure that its drawn before the hud to make it look more natural. So i guess I was wrong before, I'll post screenshots when he updates his feed.

I think you guys are confusing "before" in time and distance.
Time: Drawing the choppers before the HUD means the choppers will be behind the HUD, so you can see them behind the HUD
Distance: Drawing the choppers before the HUD means that they will be in front of the HUD and just look stupid, like in the picture

At a guess, plague bringer said that because normally the hud would be drawn last by force of the engine not by choice. In this case though, it's been explained that the effect is not a model but a shader which I guess means he had a choice whether to put it in front or behind the hud.

Well from volt "Aliens need some form of hit recognition whether it be claws or streak lines on the screen old 1.1 tremulous dev servers" so he's testing out a few different things to try and get some sort of working hit recognition system up and running for aliens.
We all remember how it was to play the Dretch for the first time, How to attack? was one of the first questions asked. Had there been a hit recognition it would have curved the learning curve of the Dretch some.
Lets just see where he takes this and then thank him for his contribution. What I've noticed from reading older topics from molders or coders who were working on trem is that the community chased them away, we tend to be nitpicky about things people make for us in their free time. Lets remember that he's working on this in his free time and that we shouldn't be so demanding.
There's an old saying, "If you don't like it, then do it yourself"
So when he does release it edit it to your preference, until then lets encourage him so he works on it more and releases it sooner.
Also he's beta testing now and currently looking for windows/mac/linux users to test the hud/menus on their computers

Creature nailed it. If the choppers are being drawn before, as in prior to, as in behind, the HUD, then it's fine, otherwise it's unnatural and awkward, like in that screenshot.

Wow, looks like people are going crazy for the hud volt coded and i did graphics for forever ago.
As for the Stage counter, if thats what you're referring to by THz, thats nothing special, you can do that with a plain old hud. It will only report the details from the team you're on, but still, w/e.
On SST, we had the !info plugin that had variables for the teams, so you could do !info teamstatus and get Aliens: S2, Humans: s3, etc

Also, as im math nerd I'd like to inform you that the video is probably ~9 times faster than the drawing took (assuming there were no breaks). In addition you just wasted at least few seconds of your life trying to read that useless information :)

It looks like the same amount of polys as the rest of the stuff he's made. I'm sure it's not a problem more than increasing the poly limit in the code and the game running slightly worse on older computers.

Current tricout is 3208 which is way to high. But the model is unoptimzed and has a lot of unnecessary detail for the ingame model. I use a higher detail model for baking ambient occlusion stuff and create a model with less detail (unseen faces deleted, etc) for the first person model.
For max tri cout I use 1500 for the weapon. The hands are +- 750 each.
I recorded the whole modeling process but camtasia decided to bug out so I lost the entire recording. Very pissed off at that >: (

lol, agre, but, about the brown spider, I think the fangs stretch, like aliens(avp) small head into their mouths : ).
I think it would not affect the gameplay much, the difference that this shot would be useful for accurate shots, and make sense for a "big gun"(ckit model and new blaster model), in short, humans would not be very powerful with this change, dodge makes humans much more powerfull ; ).
aliens need something new, like alien who flies(no, not like korxs tremx)

What I got from his post (because I took half a second to process the slightly broken English) is a suggestion that the ckit function both as the ckit but also as the blaster, allowing builders to defend themselves without switching weapons. The "blaster" part would be modified to be a charge weapon with a small splash. There wasn't any implication about damage, only function.

you fully understand, but, the charge have some more damage(and some splash, good to kill small aliens).
changed shots or normal shots = same damage per second, so it would be useful in some situations, but not replace the rapid fire : )

i may missed it if someone already came up with this, but...
it would be nice if the buildables menu could actually come up aligned to the ckit model, as if it would project it, maybe even as a hologram. there could be a screen on it by default, (as there is already,) showing the build points.
i don't exactly know if hard to keep it readable (resize n stuff) if you change resolution, or if it would slow thing down, but would look nice.

I think that would require the ckit to have a screen on the side of it* for alignment and such to look good. Otherwise, I think that ammo display shaders are impossible in Q3. I'm pretty sure it's been discussed and decided before. Couldn't link you to a topic, though. The only alternative would be to load a custom HUD when the ckit is selected that moves & distorts the BP value. :\

If GPP were released as 1.2 FINAL, as it is today, Tremulous would die. Have you seen the competition? NS2, SC2, Nexuiz... Tremulous looks like crap compared to these games. These new models will modernize & improve the look of Trem; something that (I think) it has been in desperate need of for a long time.

i gotta admit, i didnt really like the conkit, it seemed to "gun-y". But the angle the conkit is at is damn awesome, i have been converted.
Also, the "basic conkit" decal is clearly a cunningly stealthy nod from stannum that he, like most thoroughly handsome people, is a supporter of 1.1.

I don't think that crowd sourcing could honestly improve upon Stannum's work (it's really just too damn good), and the work of the other devs has completely conflicting viewpoints from opposing sides in the community. Also, there's the difference that Minecraft is going from beta->release and is missing crucial features, while Trem is release->release and things are mostly matter of opinion.
On top of that, Minecraft has it's own engine, doesn't need to worry about balance, etc. etc.

I like to see the new models because they are beautiful,i do not think that will be present in a tremulous in the near future.(humans weapons models, players models, aliens models, aliens weapons models, humans/aliens Structures..) and others things like trems sounds,maps or gameplay balance = long way to 1.2

Due to done human weapons and alien claws. Now after what 5 years of getting to this point. Now another 5 years for redoing human models, alien models, and buildables. Just think about it. "He might be a one man army, but he is just one man". He isn't getting paid, meaning it's not top priority to get 1.2. Trust me. Dude has pride in his work, he isn't releasing jack! So pretty much 1.2 is a joke.

This is stannum deciding what he does with his models, which he has every right to do, but it seems like he could really help the image of progress being made if he did release this stuff as he makes it. He seems to be going for the big release method at the moment, but the longer this takes the more big it will have to be to maintain support for it. In my opinion, as long as you keep the community updated on what you're doing, I would prefer to have a big release. Just because people may get bored with the new release really fast, and 1.2 won't really be as big of a surprise, or a new game. At least, that is my opinion.

might be interesting to release the beta material, people might suggest (or create) improvements. like true combat cqb, a alpha game, the creator always release new stuff for people to test, so when everything is ready, the game will certainly be better. urban terror HD has a similar process.

one suggestion for pulse rifle model, I think eotech does not fit the model very much, perhaps more futurist could be better(exemple: video cameras), like a FN F2000, XM25. or add a heartbeat sensor/Reddot in some gun(if it works, Why the hell do we need a non functional heartbeat sensor? : P)

I played a lot with the version of tremulous between 2009 and 2010. I play less this year. As a player, I need some simple changes such as new official maps, some changes in textures or model of weapon.
I understand a little English and I do not often have the status of the game. We've been salivating at the wonderful screenshots (models, textures, maps, ...) but no version is released.
Why not upgrade to minor version as 1.1.1, 1.1.2, 1.1.3, ... that would bring some changes but it would feel to players (who do not follow the development) that the game is changing and that this project is still alive ...
It's just my opinion

Humans head will be fixed so it's not so big. The Dretch is the same size as the current one length/height wise. Meshes were combined and a texture was applied works ingame with animations. also It's not a random spider and it doesn't exceed currently poly limit and you know what the best part is? it's legs move when it walks instead of gliding like the current dretch. I'm just doing my part, everyone else should be as well.

Reminds me of 1,1 granger, the BBOX was slightly smaller than a normal goon's, and the granger was only half the size of it. (Actually, it still is, although the model and bbox is smaller in ratio. Shoot with a MD two grangers high from the bottom of the granger, and you'll get blood. Same applies to other wallwalking aliens.)

A small "Twisty barrel bit" makes sense when you think about it. If you can make it as light as possible then it can spin faster. Things like the motor, the ammo and other gubbins don't follow the same rule.

but a small twisty barrel will have small pew pew's, and small pew pew's can hurt mr.tyrant.
My main problem is the drum just looks far too big next to the barrel, and covers up a load of it. To my eyes, the barrel just seems to be sticking out of nowhere, and is just an odd appendage.

There are reasons why some weapons are symmetrical such as being usable by both left-handed and right-handed people and to make it easier to aim with. In this situation though, it's not weapon designed for accuracy and all the clone-marines are right handed. Also, it's a heavy weapon to carry so it's helpful to have the bulk of the weight closer to you than the center of the weapon is.
And realism aside, I find the shape a refreshing change. So neh!

some members of two families, they discover the plan, and decide to kill the subversive devs.
trem and NS come together temporarily to fight the subversive and his followers, intense wars happen, they use science and magic to create super soldiers, the war begin, clones x clones, and monsters x monsters, tt x tt, gon x gon.
the War is bloody, there's no rest for both sides, both bases are severely attacked, bases that blend human and alien buildings, its a apocalipse.
its a new bloody game, subversive against fundamentalists, the 2 worlds came together at the same time are divided, its a TREM SELECTION.

I always thought urban terror's player models suck. They look so pale... and their death animation is like standing to ground in 0.25 seconds when trem is like 0.5. I still wonder why trem has less players than urban terror - ut has shit mods, sounds and their gameplay is too similar to other fps games.
In general, most fps games are like or similar to COD and UT. Which makes trem very unique.

I found it funny, as everyone seems to be complaining about games being similar. On YouTube once saw a video about Top 10 best free shooters. There was UrT, and the top rated comment said "Urban terror = Counter-strike". As I replied to him and said the game is actually pretty different and much more dynamic, he said he actually never played UrT and just judges by the video that it is a Counter-strike clone. Call it people idiotism or people-don't-like-games-that-look-similar, I don't care much.

I have played Counter-Strike and UrT both very much. There are four similarities that I can point out:
- Lots of accurate, automatic weapons.
- Emphasis on aiming for the head.
- Being hit slows you down.
- Ultra-powerful sniper rifle available which can be used in an extremely unrealistic fashion(and everyone uses it).
Combine that with the speed and arena-feel of Quake and you've got UrT.

One hit kill sniper is just bullshit, you waste 5 deaths to get goon [in this case, this guy is new to trem or doesn't dodge], gets another 2 kills, and then evolves to tyrant, rushes for his first attack as a tyrant and **bamn** dead.
We already have headshots in this game.
Also, we might need a strong, accurate instant weapon for humans because:
1st Weakest: blaster, slow and weak - meant to be weak
2nd: Rifle - o.k.
3rd: Saw - o.k. for its price and damage and range
4th: Shotgun - o.k. although can pown goons if done in teams of two
5th lgun - o.k. - the only completely accurate instant automatic weapon
6th Mdriver - 'weak' 'close combat' weapon - close combat? It has a zoom. Most experts don't snipe unless they really have to.
7th - Cgun - o.k. close range. A real chaingun person wouldn't go close-combat though. It simply is too heavy.
8th - Prifle [refering to 1.1's price list] - Strong, automatic, but only effective on anything big.
9th - Flamer - The new one is good, as the old one you are more likely to burn yourself. Apprently if you're touching a wall and aiming on an angle [of course, away from the wall. Usually about 45° i think] you can burn yourself. I think this has something to do with 'squarish, turning boundry boxes' of the missiles that the flamer launches. I solved this problem in my qvm by making it from 30 units wide (same as human) to 20.
10th - Luci - Soo un-reliable. Only useful againts tyrants and dragoons which don't dodge well. You can't even noob-tube with it!
What i'm saying is we need a strong, instant and accurate weapon. All the good weapons happen to be slow, so chainsuits tend to be the most useful in gpp. And they're close range.
