how do i find autogen.cgf??? i am a complete noob so i wont be able to understand any technical stuff?? and im on windows vista if that helps
-
Ok, first of all, please, please, please do not start a new thread for asking some question about something posted in your other thread. You should have just asked there. Now that you've asked anyway, the answer is to go to your fs_homepath, (I don't know what it is on vista). To find your fs_homepath, open Tremulous and press the ~/` button to open your console. Type 'fs_homepath' (without ' or ') into your console and press enter. It should now display a path of where your Tremulous folder is located. To get there, right click on start and hit Explore, or open my computer, and follow the directories as told to you by fs_homepath in tremulous. Note: You will start with C:/
If you can't figure that out then try again in a few years.

Just in case this doesn't work, say because you can't start tremulous in the first place, try to open an explorer window, type %APPDATA% into the address field and press return. Then you should see a folder "Tremulous" and within this a folder "base", and this should contain the autogen.cfg file.

i have founf the folder base but cannot find the folder autogen.cgf - and they are all in pk3 and i cannot opoen tremulous
-
The autogen.cfg is not in the pk3s, it should be either in the folder "base" in the tremulous installation path, or in the subfolder "Tremulous\base" under %APPDATA%, but I know only XP, don't know where %APPDATA% is in Vista.
-
haha its not in either of those either . Do you have any ideas at all other wise about how to deal with it???
-
Try to paste the following into a file FixTrem.bat in the tremulous installation directory (where Tremulous.exe is) and doubleclick it.
Tremulous +set r_mode 4

u r a fucking legend bro that worked =) thank you so much

Wow that's cool if you knew how to work a computer this would have been over earlier. I suggest learning actually some things about a computer.
-
wow im sorry if i actualy have a life outside of my computer ---
-
I have good news for you; you can have a life and know how to use computers AT THE SAME TIME
default is:
C:\Documents and Settings\[Your User Name]\Application Data\Tremulous
It is hidden by default. You have to check "show hidden files" option
-
Guys I have a Vista can any of you help?
-
On Vista, things work a bit differently, so the default isn't:
C:\Documents and Settings\[Your User Name]\Application Data\Tremulous
It's:
C:\Users\[Your Username]\AppData\Roaming\Tremulous\ (You can still still get here by going to Start > Run.. and then typing in %appdata% then opening the Tremulous folder.)
And then, there may be two autogen.cfg files; one in that directory, and one inside the 'base' folder there. At least that's how it is using Tremfusion.
-
errr wheres FixTrem.bat? lol i also have the same problem as him on Vista

couldn't exec autogen.cfg
Uhm...do you have an autogen?
-
autogen.cfg doesn't exist if you haven't succesfully ran tremulous before. If you have not, do explain further.
