Title: The ultimate solution to all compiz-problems
Post by: zybork on October 23, 2009, 06:37:01 pm
Having troubles with Tremulous and compiz-stuff? There is a workaround. You may just open a second X-terminal and run Tremulous in it. Here's how it works:

That rids you of any problems with compiz or such.
You may go back to your usual X-session any time with ...[F7] and back to the game with ...[F8]
No similar method is possible under windows or mac, for they have other means of running their graphical interfaces.

There's also a thing that puts an icon on your toolbar to toggle compriz.
Also: "startx /path/to/trem args -- :1" saves on the xterm stuff.

some graphics drivers don't support 2 accelerated X servers at the same time, so it's far from the ultimate solution.

Interesting, I actually never experienced this, and I am using Linux for quite a time now (since 1996, actually). Interesting.

The ultimate solution to compiz is to turn it off.
It also has a nice side effect of sparing you from wobbly windows and 20 other effects happening on your screen at once.
