Well it's that time again. The world series is scheduled to start October 28th, although this might change. For those of you who don't know (Non Americans) the world series (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_Series) is the championship series between the two best teams this year from the American League and the National league, the two leagues comprising Major League Baseball, or MLB, the highest proffesional baseball league in the country. This year the team from the National League is the Philadelphia Phillies (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phillies), the defending champions from last year, and the New York Yankees (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yankees), baseballs so called "evil-empire," because of their wealth and ability to buy the best talent.
Now I know that to people outside of America they may not care at all, but in America it is important to many people, so I wanted to post this thread to allow people to discuss the world series as it happens.
So tell me... who are you rooting for, who do you think will win, or who do you not want to win, whatever. Personally I want the Yankees to win, I'm not from New York but I've been there plenty of times and seen a game there and I like the Yankees. The Phillies won last year and I don't think they are good enough to deserve a second world series title in a row. I think the Yankees have a good shot at winning, historiclly they lead MLB in World Series wins, and have many good players including a certain Mariano Rivera (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mariano_Rivera) who is quite possibly the best post season player ever.
If anyone wants to "bet" me their on, I hope this will be an exciting series, and it should be fun to watch.

i read the title as "Hello world" series, when i opened the thread i was disappointed :'(

Hello World Series, Goodbye World Cup.

Yeah this should be really fun to watch. I'm a Yankees fan so I'll be rooting for them but I think they will lose :/

Flames: "World Series". Aha, last time I checked the world consisted of >190 countries.
-
Someone fix title to
Hello, World Series
please :/
That or someone post the source for hello world programs in every language they know so some of us can actually enjoy this thread.

I stayed in Pennysylvania (or something like that) for 2 weeks once, watched a few games on telly. It was alright.
But damn, your country just has a feel of incredible S P A C E to it, big skies, big roads and big plots of land.
But Im going for the Phillies, cos the folks I stayed with were fans of them.
Repay their food and shelter with loyalty.

Whichever team has the least steroid laden players gets my vote.
Edit: Fixed wording error.

All depends on where you are. Some places around where I've lived, you get the feeling the grass and dirt was brought in by truck, otherwise it would all be asphalt and concrete. Other areas, you can look out as far as you can see on the horizon and not see a single building.

Well, I thinkt the former are cities? Amirite?
Anyway, round here, the buildings are squat and dense and grey.
So it isnt even an impressive city.
Just close and overcast.

The lovely city of Aberdeen.
Granite City, Oil Capital of Europe, trillion time winner of Britain in Bloom (only competitor methinks), birthplace of Alex Salmond, former team of Angry-Chewing-Football-Manager bloke for Manchester of a sport I really dont care about.
Yes, indeed, a magnificent.
But it is OT.
