Title: Mouse Speed [SOLVED]
Post by: yrdady on December 17, 2009, 12:27:27 am
I'm new to the boards, looking to get back into Tremulous..

I installed, opened the game, adjusted settings as I see so fit.. mouse sensitivity is as high as it'll go, but my mouse speed is amazingly slow.

On menu's it's horribly bad.. gameplay it's a little easier to deal with but still way too slow for my tastes.  Any ideas on how to increase my mouse tracking speed?

I've searched the web, the forums.. etc etc trying to find an answer before I made a new post.  But I just can't find anything on the subject.

Thanks for any help you guys can give.

P.S. Don't know if it matters or not, but I'm running on OSX 10.6.2

try:
Code: [Select]
/sensitivity [number] - the number, of course, relies on the dpi of your mouse, but I recommend something around 35 - 45 to start with, and work your way around from there.

Best Regards,
Kiwi

I open the console (~)
Enter /sensitivity 45, tried [45] as well as other numbers..
Press enter.. no changes.

So have you actually tried adjusting your mouse settings from outside the game, like from the settings menu (wherever that is in OSX) ?

You can also use cl_mouseAccel

My OSX mouse settings are on the highest they will go for speed.

And the cl_mouseAccel doesn't seem to do anything either.

Seems like some sort of mouse error/conflict, because those should work.

If you have another mouse lying around somewhere or for another computer try using that one and seeing if you can get it working?

I don't know if I'm just stupid and entering this stuff in wrong or what.. tried a different mouse, and all the commands with the different mouse and nothing changed.

Can you guys give me a walk through of what to do and what exactly to type?  Currently, I've been loading the game, press ~, and typing in what you guys have said followed by Return (Enter), then trying moving the mouse to see any difference.

1. Go to an empty server
2. open console look at the values in /sensitivity and in cl_mouseAccel
3. Change those. First sensitivity to something like 30. Move the mouse around as a spectator. If you don't see a change immediately, something is wrong with either your hardware or your software stack. I tried it and as soon as I change my sense from 30 to 60 and close console, my spec camera moves around much quicker.

Does this problem ever happen outside of Tremulous?

Also try setting sensitivity to 1, then 40 and seeing if it gives a change to the slide bar controller under the esc menu.

Going into a server worked.  My game mouse look speed is where I would like it now.

My menu mouse speed doesn't seem to ever want to change, oh well.  It's just the menu's.

Thanks for the help.

As far as it happening outside of Tremulous.. no, it doesn't.

im also on a mac, and i had a similar issue.  seems to me like the system mouse speed setting and tremulous mouse speed setting are not working together correctly.  the problem was fixed by /sensitivity 50.  another person in game on a mac said they had a similar problem.

anyways, the slider doesnt work, and when in windowed mode, tremulous continually sends a message saying it re-adjusted the mouse sensitivity, probably fighting the system setting for control or something.  dunno.

Same here.  Is this a widespread mac bug?  I've countered it easily by changing the sensitivity in tremulous or the dpi of my mouse.

Okay. I have a weird problem with my mouse.
My last mouse a Intelipoint Wireless Mouse 2.0 (Forgot the right name) was wireless mouse from microsoft.
It worked finde with tremulous but was a little dammaged.
now last christmas i got a new one. The Logitech G9X with a wire and 5700 dpi.
It doesn't work with tremulous.
not in the menu and not ingame.
when i movem y mouse fast it work but if i move it slow then my mouse makes jumps and is very very slow. slower than i move.
can't aim, and it is difficulty to click on the buttoms in the menu or the amoury etc.
i think this mouse is too "good" for this game (too fast, too high dpi, too many packets my mouse is sending to the game.)
Could it be fixed please?
tremulous got unplayable =(

PS:
I only have this Problem in tremulous. other games including the old ones work properly with my new mouse.

try disabling mouse acceleration (cl_mouseAccel)

it was allready deactoivated and a activation doesn't made difference.
A trem developer or a fan should make a patch for the trem revision.
i use a Logitech G9X and Windows 7 RC1 Build 7100 64-Bit Ultimate.

I need Windows to play. ^^
DirectX ;)
Linux is better for working and windows is better for gaming.

windows is better for gaming.

thats very debatable

linux has some great games more then enough to keep most content

if some of the windows only games were ported to linux(i wish they would start doing this more) you'd also find they would prob run 200pct better too

Sadly most companies don't want to even consider making games for Linux, but there is always Wine...

try:
Code: [Select]
/sensitivity [number] - the number, of course, relies on the dpi of your mouse, but I recommend something around 35 - 45 to start with, and work your way around from there.

Best Regards,
Kiwi
