Title: No people playing?

There never seems to be anyone playing, like a billion servers but only about 100 people spread out between them.   Is this normal?

Yep, try playing the new GPP (http://tremulous.net/files/), there are a lot more players per server there.

Yeah. A lot of the servers are clan servers and random, unplayed servers people have made but never use. There are only a few popular public servers that you can consistently find people on.

on the gpp place I only see 3 servers.

There are like 10, try hitting refresh and get new list.  Almost everyone plays on the "Offical Servers" anyway.
