I'm not exactly sure, but try adding:
Code: [Select]
seta cl_consoleKeys "~ ` 0x7e 0x60"to your autogen.  and opening the console with your ~ key.

Good Luck,
Kiwi

Edit: Now that I think about it, you could also simply do something like "/bind x toggleconsole"

Binding toggleconsole doesn't work at all well.

So are the [ ] \ keys for me. [ doesn't work at all, ] has turned into [, and \ has turned into ]. Is this just something with the client, or is it a compatibility problem with Windows 7 32bit? On my friends 64bit Windows 7 it works fine.

tried upgrading SDL??

in Linux it works fine but i have heard alot of people(mostly windows users) have had this issue SDL handles input so upgrading it might help

also do you have your localization settings right like right keyboard set maybe it thinks your using a different keyboard layout

since it works great on Linux this is about as much help as i can give.

Yeah, the tilde key works perfectly for me (On Kubuntu), but I have heard many people express that many of their keyboard keys are not working properly on windows.

you need to use a keyboard layout without dead keys.
