Title: hosting problems
Post by: pitamar on February 10, 2010, 10:36:49 pm
Hello.
I use Ubuntu 9.10 and have a strange problem. When i try to host, some people can connect me, but most just have "Awaiting connection" forever.
I know i surely can host because some can connect me, because all can ping me and my computer works as a server for other things successfully,
it happens only with quake based games like tremulous and nexuiz.
I know that they can connect any other server on the list, even those with bigger ping than my server so the problem is not their, I guess...
All the ports are opened in my routher, I have no firewall as I know (haven't installed any) and I'm sure that the port of the server and the port those people use are the same (default 30720 though i tried few).
I tried even to make a dedicated server and who could connect me normally saw it, but who couldn't didn't see me on the list.
I'm pretty at a loss and have no idea how to solve it, everyone i asked didn't know the answer and even the searches in google (and i made many) gave me just about nothing.
So please, help me, i gotta solve it anyway >.<

If you need me to show something just tell me and I'll post here.

Thanks for help  ;)

Still it does sound like a NAT/port forwarding problem.

How many people can connect at once?  I'd guess your router NAT can't handle more than one connection at a time.

The point is that it's not about how many people are in the same time. The people who can connect connect without any problem but the others can't even if the server is empty.
