Title: Serious Feedback
Post by: Conzul on March 06, 2010, 03:31:22 am
Problem: Waiting ages for next match because noobs don't know they must click when ready.
Solution: Put a large or flashing notification on the score screen prompting to click when ready.

Problem: Tesla. :tesla:
I've played strings of games and seen some crazy shit like a goon and rifle killing each other (a tie!)one on one twice in a row. What I've never seen is a human build a tesla. I fear that they will go the way of the hovel :hovel:, obsolete or underused.
Solution: Make more interesting [suggestions: if your hit by tesla you slow down/ tesla can attack multiple enemies at once/ tesla can absorb much damage/ I don't care but something ]

Problem:  :tyrant: Large aliens and small halls.
Solution: Allow aliens to "clip" through each other when under boost effect (ala my lubrication sugg from before).

Well that's it from me, I'm off for a bit (just got a Ps3 - you know how it is. Once I get ubuntu on it I'll see if it'll run trem)

Edit: I'd like to add that the Pulse Rifle is too powerful. But instead of nerfing it, I'd like to suggest that it gets a longer reload. Any yea's or nea's please

1. Solution - give /allready back to the level 3's.  I know some admins are too quick to shut off postgame chat, but they could be trained to wait for the pregnant pause.

2. I haven't seen any all-tesla bases recently like we used to in 1.1, but lots of people still build them.  I always put 1 by the RC and nodes to get the sneaky dretches, combined with 2 rets for the bigger guys.  They seem sufficiently annoying to me as an alien.

3. Lubrication - lol.

Meh. I like the small break after every game.
It's after all only 30 seconds after 5-60 minutes of playing. Nice relaxing pause.
Usage of allready can be really annoying, and imo, should be used very carefully.

Have you guys fixed the bug where sometimes clicking won't make you "Ready"?

AFAIK, it's people in slots >32 who can't ready, and they are assumed to always be ready.
Unless there's a different bug.

Me too, but there's nothing like just having warmed up, and having some ignorant stalling. One of my most used binds now involves "click when ready".

In gpp?  That happened to me about a quarter of the time on 1.1, but I've *never* seen it on gpp.

I know for sure in 1.1, not sure about gpp, thats why I asked, in case it just never happened to me but was still an issues.

Necroquote but
Nobody forces you to join/spawn right after map loads (and map loading can also be considered as a small break). Some people (including me) don't like to wait that long for next game but the current system forces them to. Also, from what I noticed in myself and my brother, long breaks in endgame "favors" leaving the server somehow (you also can notice that there are almost always few people leaving when that endgame break drags on).

I agree about !allready, at least it shouldn't change map right away.

Tesla is used more now, nice. Of course, I can't stand this, being a solely alien player, but I see it in many matches now. Jolly Good!

Edit: I'd like to add that the Pulse Rifle is too powerful. But instead of nerfing it, I'd like to suggest that it gets a longer reload(its op-ness comes mainly at point blank, and reload is too quick for aliens that get near). Any yea's or nea's please....

I wait awhile before leaving so I can say bye and see if anyone has anything interesting to say.  So (in some cases) it's not the wait making people leave, the wait is just letting you see it as opposed to them disconnecting during the map load.

The beginning of the game is the most fun/deciding so that's not acceptable :)

Wow, do you kids seriously have so little patience?
How about an /extendinterval so we can string it out when those bloody whiners start spamming "ZOMG CLIEK NOOBS!!!1!"?

Is making 29 people ("little kids with no patience") wait because the 30th wants to have a break "acceptable"? Or does it make any sense?

I still feel that less people would leave if the timer thing was shorter/fixed/whatever, but that's my subjective opinion and there's no way to prove/"disprove" it. I also never said that the server should move on right after game end. I, as well as many others, often want to say something after the game end but hell, 30 seconds (right?) is way more than enough time for doing it.

With 1.1 timer system those endgame breaks were hardly noticeable (I doubt I ever had the feeling that it takes too long to move on, unlike 1.2), you had time to say something, and it wasn't dragging on. It was fine, I have no idea why it had changed.

Yes, little kids with no patience, seriously, how much of an adrenaline rush would you need to be on for the current intermission time to feel upsettingly long?
How much has the intermission changed between 1.1 and 1.2? i can't say i've noticed much.
I vote we extend the default time, there's nothing more frustrating than going off to make a cup of tea only to discover that the next round has started without you.

So make a pot and have it ready to span several matches. And have a cup-warmer nearby. I use them all the time.
