What about making aliens heal faster on creep. To add that feeling of home to the alien base.

What about adding icons above the heads of players so you can tell what they're doing?

For example:

Players can have 2 icons (well the ones I can think of that are important)

Defend and Attack.

The icons appear like the icons when you're talking in Quake 3 (the emoction icon representing the player is talking).

That way, when someone is going to attack or someone is going to defend you'll know.  You can also see your team icons to see if you need more offense or defense depending.

Of course, this doesn't have to appear on their heads, you could look at the scoreboard and have these icons appear next to names.

Maybe an assinine feature, but why not throw it out.

That might convince people to work together in a group, or people would simply not use the feature.
A wounded indicator above someones head would be helpfull so you know which teammates you need to make a escape path for or defend.

Also some general helpfull features like a newbie tutorial, list of usefull radio-say commands/reports, quikconfigs to quikly buy your favorite weapons/armor/equipment combinations, could be usefull.

And what about the addition of running slower with heavy armor and faster with ligth armor. I'm more of the fast light armor player, while other people might prefer to be more durable but slower.

My main complaint on the radio commands is that:

#1.  It takes a hell of a long time to record them for each class/species.
#2.  No one seems to use them after 2 months.

Maybe a vote would settle it .  I'll do it if the majority requests it.

Just have that "shazbot!" voice from tribes.  That ends up being the only voice used anyways

Greetings from CA, first time I've gotten online since Friday.

The designation of defense or offense is going to depend somewhat on what class you choose, but more so on how you play that class. It's hard to peg people into playing the class as one role without restricting the player to zones, ala soccer or even baseball.

It might be interesting though to have an automatic icon appear next to a players name if they are close to the base, you could hit tab, see that there are 3 players with a hive icon next to their name and quickly conclude there are enough people near base. Or vice versa, you could see no one there and suggest something be done.

The booster is one way of encouraging players to defend though. It's a supportive structure that gives a temporary damage bonus to any alien touching it. It's timed, so it's only useful near the base. Basically it makes any aliens near the base stronger , if they use it. So humans should assume it's being used and take caution. It does not last long enough to use and flee to the human base. Although you could make a booster outpost, it would set itself up to be attacked easier by the humans.

Hey Veda, hows the smog?  Haha .

Yeah the area of location would be good probably.  Is it Counter Strike that says the player location (i.e. Enemy base, Courtyard, etc.) when someone says something?  Argh, damn memory, but anyways, whatever game has it it's really a cool feature thats useful for tactics and locating allies.

(p.s. bug Timbo for the new voice samples I sent him when you get a chance, want your opinion)
(p.p.s. if you want marine radio chat send me a script ).

Ok, cool. I wish you luck on your next projects!
And stan, IF the community sucked when you were there, was because you were there. Now stop saying that.

Another idea, no idea if it'll be usefull. As I have no idea how far the creep will spread out on the map or around which structures.  My idea is an alien who has the same pattern as the creep. So it could blend in on it.

Just imagine a human soldier approaching the alien base, seeing the twirling lines of the creep all around him. Then thinking he sees something move on the creep. Which actually is a wallwalking alien trying to get behind him.

Could be cool, probably not feasible.
