I know this has been said too many times that tremulous won't change its engine, but still I'd like to remind you of the this :
http://www.team-blur-games.com/overdose/news.php
Simply because they said it would be released as open source soon :
[Berserk] 20hours 14mins ago says:
The full source code will be released freely under the GPL license. In fact, all our SDK tools already are, the engine and game will follow soon.
seen there http://www.moddb.com/games/overdose/videos
or this :

The SVN and Beta exe's are going public pretty darn soon.

Altough I know there would be too many to recode to build tremulous on this, and it is using openGL 3.2 so you can't run it on too old hardware, but if you still have something older than a GeForce 8800 ...
Also I know it's not yet on linux, but I think it won't be too long once it'll be open-sourced
In fact I think what would be great would be to make a Tremulous MOD for Overdose, because the content will not be free-to-use like the engine will be so making a mod involve keeping it, and there are already lots of great models/textures
Now that I threw all my stuff, I know I'm going to get called "troll" or something like that but to be honnest I don't care, I just want you to think how nice it WOULD be if tremulous was on this engine =)
Allright now you can start insulting me.

Checked out the website, I had to wipe drool off my keyboard. Daym!
Problem: This tech is so recent it will cut out a number of ppl with lower or mid-end hardware.
Oh well, at least it's open source. Looks like its got a bunch of easy tools to go with it (ODRadiant, etc), I'm bookmarking that!

Lack of Linux Support = not gonna happen anytime soon
Needs newish hardware = not gonna happen anytime soon
And if trem is gonna change engine/renderer, the general consensus seems to be if anything, it'd be Xreal.

It started before tremulous. (not rly)
They just post photos.
No release yet.
They don't want to make it open source.
Because their code is too precious.
They'd rather license id tech 2 than releasing it under GPL.
I hope I am wrong.

Sneakyness (http://www.quake3world.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=43729) = not going to happen anytime soon

Never said it started before tremulous.
Great screenshot and also videos.
I said they will release it SOON.
I quoted the guy saying it will go open source.
I would understand a so nice engine to be precious for the one guy who coded it ...
They have no money to license id tech 2.
You're wrong.
But anyway I know tremulous will never be on that nice game, I know it's important for players to have crappy quality engine that runs on 10 years old hardware, I know the beste solution is still Xreal for some reasons. But I just wanted to make you dream

It looks very nice, but I am fan of UDK engine, atleast because it is supported by big company.

Ain't gonna happen..

Those overdose guys are tricky
Xreal is not a good option
Modeling and texturing for tremulous takes forever and Xreal adds extra work on the artists
Of course you are free to skip most of those extras. But then why are you using Xreal
It is 90% done but who has the skills and time to complete the rest?
Am I pessimistic? hell yeah!

You're assuming that in order to use XreaL you must take advantage of everything it offers. XreaL's shadowing and lighting is definitely worth it, as well as it's numerous speed improvements over ioq3.

Wel I Half-agree, since there is one coder and one designer, the designer is just a fucking ass-hole who believe to be the beste, but the coder is nice and you have to agree they are both very talented.
but it's not "I hope you're wrong" because I bought you quotes of themself saying it's going open-source, I've been following the project for a while, and believe me their decision was a hard choice for them, and they wouldn't have said that public if they weren't sure of it.
