Title: Muting Recognizing Admin Levels
Post by: Kiwi on June 18, 2010, 09:10:52 pm
I think it would be neat for mute to recognize what level the admin who muted was and what level the player was.  So you can only unmute yourself if you are the same level or lower than your muter.  I know this would be a lot of work, but I think it would be a valuable addition?

be nice if alot of things were changed like that

i did it for bans by adding a new variable to be saved in admin.dat and that seemed to work well although the way i added it to showbans made its output look a lil ugly

Would this really be a lot of work? It should be as simple as adding a variable in the right place (I don't believe mute is a structure, so I guess it would have to go on the player which would be a bit ugly), setting the variable when you mute someone (trivial) and then checking for it when you unmute someone (trivial).

If an admin needs to be muted he/she should have their privileges taken away, IMO.

I agree, which is why I don't think this would be awfully helpful.  But, I do think that it would make the admin system feel more structured, and it makes sense..

Muting an admin, from my experience, generally is a way of messing around, and being able to unmute yourself when a higher admin mutes you is nice. And as you guys pointed out earlier, if an admin legitimately needs to be muted, then s/he obviously does not deserve admin.
