I'm in windows XP, and I have a problem where the game will randomly freeze up during a fight (only during fights, and I only play as aliens). The ingame console will show nothing, and when I type /disconnect, the server I was on (whatever it may have been, tested several) will disappear. All other servers will show up. After one min to 5 min, the server that disappeared will reappear, and I can connect and play normally until it freezes again. The freezes always occur when lots of firing is going on, and lagometer shows nothing (it freezes too).
Edit: When the freezes happen, I can open the console and see the line 36 arenas parsed . Sometimes this line will print several times in quick succession.
I've had this problem.
Try turning your cl_maxpackets value down a bit, below 60, that fixed it for me when I had this problem.

I was playing GPP, where the default says it's 30. I just changed it to 55, no perceptible fix.
still have this problem, every day.
Maybe some QoS or packet shaping somewhere, randomly killing connections?
Sounds like the sort of retarded stuff a shit ISP would do to lower bandwidth.
BTW, in internet options, I've disabled all service types except TCP/IP. So no file sharing going on. I did this cus I noticed better ping on some servers, by about 5-10 percent.
Wow. The problem clears itself up after I press the esc key to bring up the ingame menu. It still freezes though.
Hey stuff shows in the console now. When the freeze occurs, the console says "36 arenas parsed" sometimes it prints this line 2wice. Sum1 plz hlep!
