Ok, so I literally just got this new laptop today, and I've only played 2 or 3 games on it so far, but there's this odd visual glitch. I'm running Windows 7 with i5 core, 4 gigs RAM, ATI mobile Radeon HD 5400 series on a Dell Studio 15 laptop. The adv. mara has the electricity texture all over it's body in a flesh color. Here's a few screenshots.

Looking at them closer now I can see that it's the texture itself all jumbled up.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining, I think it's really cool. I just want to find out what's causing this.

skinned mara. cool.
[/unhelpful]

Could be a corrupted pk3? Maybe after one one of the updates?
-
The pure check *should* prevent you using borked pk3's, but it does look like it could be.
Maybe it's an unpure server and a extra / borked pk3 somewhere? Looks like the right texture just rotated.
-
That is a pretty epic mara!

There are also some problem reports on the ioquake3 forum with messed up textures on the latest AMD drivers. Maybe this is a driver bug.

Thank you gimhael :D
And this was on the 1.2 Pure official US Trem Server 1
Yes, I remember reading about how the ATI drivers for Win7 used to not have opengl for them. It's probably that. All my map pk3's and such I just copied from my main desktop to the laptop. I guess it is the drivers. It's not that I'm really complaining about it, I think it's really cool, I just want to be able to fix it if need be.
-
same effect after updating to the newest ATI driver. some more textures are messed up as well on several maps.
-
odarn, that baby is just ready for the campfire. *salivates*

The last good version of ati drivers that worked fine for me is the 9.12.
Try with them.
Later versions give me problems with open GL.
Good luck

Thank you. I'd keep it if this was the only glitch, as all of the adv mara's body jolts around like it's electric patch, it looks really cool. But, there are other textures that are borked, so I think I have to revert to that (after I make a demo of that awesomeness ^_^).
-
just make sure you make that demo into a proper video while you still have the bug, the demo might just get fixed in a working build.

There's the video. I'll put up the demo file in a bit. Watch the first few seconds and it'll tell you where to skip to get to the most crazy mara action. It'll also tell you where Lecavelier's breakdancing is. :D

The demo won't show anything. Your files are the borked ones, not everyone elses. :P

I know that, but a few people told me to put up the demo anyway. I don't know why though... ???

the last working version of catalyst is 10.4. 10.5 and 10.6 have this bug.
