Something's def. wrong when your characters start sounding like chipmunks.
-
openal being a douchebag, i bet
-
zomg that happens to me on my LAN server. Humans also jump around like maras, spawn with blaster only, and don't take fall damage, not to mention that the UI is completely screwy. :P
try removing random mods out of your base folder.

Now that's a mod I want.
pounce human . .. .. .. . "eeek!"
crush human. . . . . ."eeeek!"

The thing is though, the only things there are maps I've downloaded and the cfgs.

I have this EXACT SAME PROBLEM!!! I keep telling people they sound like chipmonks. It first started when I loaded up a demo. Then if I go ingame after watching said demo, I get the sounds ingame. But it doesnt always do it. Tamaru suggested that maybe it was a corrupt data.pk3 but I replaced mine so that wasnt it.
-
It's a z-sounds pk3. Rather annoying. certain servers (ie Amsterdam Unlimited) require it to dl.
-
How do I get rid of it then?I looked for it in the tremulous base directory but couldn't find it.

Type: "/fs_homepath" in console. It will give you the path to a directory. Navigate to that directory and you will find it in *that* base directory. The base directory you're looking in is probably in fs_basepath.
In windows fs_basepath is usually C:\Users\yournamehere\AppData\Local\Tremulous\base or something similar.
In linux it is normally ~/.tremulous/

~/Library/Application Support/Tremulous for Mac.
