OK this is stupid but... i did /unbindall in console! Now i don't have binds, i can't even move or join a team with my mouse (shooting is a bind too). So i can't do anything. But, am pretty sure that if i get a new guid i will have regular binds (like shooting move and stuff).
How can i change my guid? Or is there another way to have my binds back?
I hope you'll help me thanks!
-
GUID is unrelated to binds. Try /exec default.cfg in console. Or if you have played some mod, you could try looking in mod folders if your binds are in any of the autogen.cfgs. You should put all your binds in a new .cfg which you can /exec at any time should something get messed up.

I do not think that word means what you think it means. All you needed was to /exec default.cfg. If that is indeed the error you're getting though (that doesn't look like a fatal error to me) I think you'll need data-1.1.0.pk3, or perhaps data-gppr[insert latest version here].
-
Just tell how to get another guid(not the tjw backport one)
-
Thats not what you need though.
-
A GUID is a globally unique identifier, it's a number (or anything else) that's unique and can be used to identify you.
Delete fs_homepath/qkey and a new one will be made for you.
It has nothing to do with binds, and neither do clients which is what I guessing you mean when you talk about GUID's.
The /exec default.cfg thing is what you need.

its not a guid problem, i think it was a custom hud etc.
btw you have to find a file called 'qkey', that is your guid. after deleting it, a backported trem/tremfusion etc client will automatically generate you a new one, but that wont solve this problem.
if you have installed a hud before, read its manual how to uninstall it. then you can try to get rid of the .cfg files, including autogen.cfg, which will be autogenerated as well.

The new problem is that i can't open trem, why? I tried things before you guys post! Now am not touching it t'ill a pro helps me thx! And i guess my bind problems is solved now thx!
But i guess my binds problem is solved, now how can i open trem again?
and where is my qkey supposed to be?
-
set ui_menufiles ...something..i forget
-
i cant open console since i cant open trem!
-
Need more info then "can't open trem". You can try to run Tremulous from a terminal/command prompt/whatever it is on your operating system (if you know how) to get some info about why it's not working.
What operating system?
Where and how did you install Tremulous?
Did you use a custom HUD?
How did you reinstall?
-
First, i installed trem at tremulous.net/files
I was using volts but then i changed to oticz hud
How i reinstalled? mh I uninstalled (normal steps) and i went to trem.net/files again.
And the problem isnt trem it's my guid! Why? I can play trem without my guid, but when i download it, that error comes.

So it does run but gives that error. And that is not 'GUID', it's just a somewhat updated client. All non-default clients use a per user local folder somewhere in Application Data (or whatever it is on your operating system) in addition to the folder in Program Files (I'm assuming you use some version of Windows).
So in 'Application Data' find a folder named 'Tremulous', in that open the folder 'base' and either:
a) delete the file autogen.cfg at that location (you'll lose all non-default settings and binds)
b) find out how you were supposed to uninstall your HUD, and follow those steps as much as you can, then open the autogen.cfg and add to the end:
reset cg_hudFiles
reset ui_menuFiles
-
i deleted the autogen, then i wait like an hour... i come back. It's still deleted... wtf? What do i do?
-
Well, generally speaking, waiting an hour isn't the best way to make a file.

The game will automatically create one when you start trem (if there isn't 1 already)

bah double post since i cant delete it... dont mind that post thx

am pretty sure it would work. But i can't start trem so i can't have a new autogen! I guess i have to make an autogen? Can i do this? How?
-
You don't need a new autogen. You just had to make sure those 2 variables are either reset or not in autogen... Which should be the case if you deleted the right autogen.cfg.
How about you give some more information, like the exact path to the autogen.cfg that you deleted and which OS you use, which client you are using? It's rather difficult to decipher if/how you actually follow the advice given.
You can also try adding "+reset cg_hudFiles +reset ui_menufiles" to the end of your Tremulous desktop shortcut target field, and if that fixes it, remove them.
-
What kind of OS do you have? win xp/vista/windows 7/linux/mac os?
-
windows xp

ok i think i should help out a lil now
recursive error after: menu file not found: ui/menus.cfg, using default
that normally happens when the game executable cannot find the game-files(in this case any hud whatsoever including default) make sure you copy the backport to where you installed tremulous and im kinda surprised noone pointed that out allready
ok some noob instructions that not even a winwoes user can get wrong
- right click on the 'non-guid' tremulous shortcut and go 'find target'?(been a while i think thats its name)
- copy the file you downloaded into the folder that opens up after doing the find target crap
if you did it right it all should work just make a new shortcut pointing to the new file
-
- right click on the 'non-guid' tremulous shortcut
I am amused.
-
...make sure you copy the backport to where you installed tremulous...
...* right click on the 'non-guid' tremulous shortcut...
when you install the backport you overwrite the old 'non-guid' .exe with the new one, so even the old shortcut will be okay, pointing to the same, but modified file
-
Or he could play GPP, that requires an installer that can reset stuffs :o :hive:
-
any results, Twizzel? ???
-

thing is im unconvinced he has installed the binary also default name for the binary is tremulous.(arch).(ext) which is in winblows tremulous.x86.exe doesnt really match tremulous.exe
most guid clients provide a binary for the user to install to the right place id say he has downloaded it to something like his desktop and is clicking like a noob on the .exe file
if that advice doesn't work post the WHOLE output of the console it will show us what pk3's it can find in the searchpaths and will help us diagnose the issue also make sure your installing either tremfusion mgclient or fsm older clients like tjw client although good a few years ago is quite out of date
-
Man I wonder whatever happened with this. At the very least this thread was a lot of good laughs.
-
Thx guys for help, but i got tired of it and i'll be playing without a guid.

I see you're new around these here parts. Or just not an old(erish) fag (with such a short lifetime tremulous has you would be an olderish for knowing.. but that is just sad on tremulous' part.)
