Title: Granger Danger: Reasons to be a Battle-Granger
Post by: Venkman on September 23, 2010, 07:24:34 pm
1| Illiteracy

2| Drug abuse

3| A complete lack of basic game strategy

Last night, I played Trem (specifically GPP, on US-1) for the first time in a few months and I couldn’t help but notice that there are STILL people Battle-Granging. And I don’t just mean out of desperation during a human rush or after humans have already reached s3 and most of the alien players have just given up; that shit happens.

But to see certain players continue spawning as a Granger the ENTIRE round without ever building a SINGLE thing and simply rushing out into the fray to instantly die EVERYTIME, it just makes me sad. When we’re winning, when we’re losing, after Sudden Death or better yet when BOTH sides are still S1... Meaning the Granger can’t even WALL-WALK yet... They’re fucking trying to fight with it anyway. People who, despite having learned how to operate the Internet and download a game and then read up on trivial details about said game like how to call map-votes or how to change the color of their awesome name, still can’t figure out that the BUILDER is NOT a COMBAT CLASS.

I’m gonna say that one more time all nice and slow and I’m gonna come on here and post it right at the top of General Discussion even though it belongs in Strategies and Tactics because we all know that the pricks this is intended for aren’t gonna see it if they even have to so much as scroll down...

The BUILDER...

                           is NOT...

                                  a COMBAT CLASS!

Crazy, I know. But just hear me out...

When a round starts, you have a choice between two sides; Human or Alien. Both sides have two starting classes: a Builder class and a Combat class. One builds and one combats. Now, can you guess which is which?

...Apparently NO, you fucking can’t. The people I’m talking to know who they are and they know what they’ve done and honestly I wouldn’t even care if they’d just stop FEEDING so goddamn much.

“What’s that?” asks the guy who apparently never reads his team chat.

It’s when all your dumb little Granger deaths, which are worth MORE to the enemy than Dretches  (who are actually awesome and the class that you’re SUPPOSED to fight with), add up to enough that Humans get their stage increase before Aliens.

But just think about it: When you’re a builder on the Human team, do you spawn and then immediately rush out of the base with your blaster blazing?

Wait, you do, don’t you? You hooker...

Tremulous-Made-Easy:

             :granger:
Think of these little guys as Hippies... and your base is Canada.

Spleen thoroughly vented? :)

I've not seen that much battle granging on gpp... but yeah. Not a great idea. Might be nice if granger was a little bit more combat friendly and less of a green lump, but ah well.

Wait, you do, don’t you? You just came from X, didn't you?

Also, I had no idea Canada was built by hippies. I guess that explains where hipsters come from, though.

Yeah, I feel a little better. thanks for asking ;)

The kind of Battle-Grangers I wrote that for usually don't build shit so I figured the best thing they can do is camp (at least they'll live longer and that's all they care about anyway...) Though I bet at least a small percentage of those hippies that immigrated to Canada during Nam became architects and engineers. So one could argue that my analogy is still pretty valid.

Only if they sucked at it. But yeah, other than that it still works, since I bet only a small percentage of these battlegrangers build anything useful ever.

Exactly...

So, in summation, Battle-Grangers are about as useful as hippies and also probably just as hygienic.

Logic-fail: hippies are peaceful, remember?
No fighting, therefore battlegranger != hippie

You're forgetting the classic protesting hippie that does have a habit of spitting on people...

Yes. And also like Hippies, the Granger can TRY to do battle thus earning the title of Battle-Granger, but it's effect is usually little if any at all. The term "battle-granger" is like "jumbo-shrimp". It's sort of meant to be read as an oxymoron.

You rock, Nux!

I'm also glad to know that all those rounds of Granger-feeding and my subsequent mountain of bitch-rant was able to spawn such a beautiful bastard stepchild. So maybe bad things really DO happen for a reason... Finally, the universe makes sense.
