I play with the WASD keys and my trackball mouse, but the sensitivity in the game is really slow. I have raised the sensitivity in the options but it is still really slow, any help?
-
first of all, if you're physically capable of operating one, BUY A MOUSE!
maybe try increasing the mouse sensitivity settings in your OS, but tbh i've no idea what to suggest.
-
In the console you can do /sensitivity <number>. The UI switches it between 1 and 3, but lots of people play with it at 15-20, or even more.
-
1 and 3?! I use 7.5, and that's the lowest I've used since I started playing Trem. Why not make the UI have a nicer range?
-
Because 1-3 is probably where the average person with an average mouse will want it.
People with gaming mice and / or good twitch reflexes are probably people who'll be tuning stuff anyway.
Or maybe I'm totally wrong, who knows.

[msk@miranda gpp]$ grep -n sensitivity assets/ui/*
assets/ui/ingame_options.menu:651: cvarfloat "sensitivity" 5 1 30
assets/ui/options.menu:190: cvarfloat "sensitivity" 5 1 30
The default value is 5
The minimum value is 1
The maximum value is 30

Okay, that makes a lot more sense.

There are those of us who play with a trackball mouse. Me included. It's not impossible. I actually play better with one(imagine that).
-
I don't doubt that for a moment, but i imagine you're in a bit of a minority there, it'd be interesting to know how many trackballers there are playing trem reasonably well, though.
-
One of my friends who used to live down the street from me used a trackball in Trem. Sometimes we'd hop on the shared wireless we used and 1v1 on the wifi LAN. He was pretty damn good after a while, with that trackball.
-
When someone picks up a trackball they suck with it, but the same can be said of new mouse users; it's just a matter of practice.
As to which is easier to get good with or has a higher ceiling, I don't know.

30 Sense ftw.

For me, I can't keep sensitivity all time same. Gotta change sensitivity all time. Don't know is it just my mouse, or my mouse handling becoming faster, and sensitivity was about few months ago 30, now it is something 45 or higher.

Hah, got the same.
I started with 7.5, now I have 14.
-
I originally used like 10-15? Over time I've found it easier to work lower.
-
I use and have always used 18.

Sensitivity is affected by mouse/os/drivers and posting your numbers to compare to each other is a completely meaningless exercise as they're not comparable across machine configurations.

THANK you. I roll 30. Much below that kills turn rate so I know that on my system none of you would be playing at or around 15.

Running at 1.23 in both Tremulous and QLive

I think I run at like 36
