Here, I will post stuff I make. I'm using Wings3D. The models are low-poly and non-textured only. There is no real goal to have these models to be implented in Trem. In total, I have been practicing Wings3D for one week. Critique is always welcome
LAR-1 (Light assault rifle-1).

Your in the right track.
In time you will get much better.

Thanks!
Hm... I just discovered that LAR-1 has extremely wide body in the picture, while in the actual model it looks a little more narrow... Should I replace this picture?

What the other guy said. These are good bases, but they need details. Lots of details. Study other models and you'll get ideas. For now, though, you're in a good place.

Yeah, I guess I will add something like a radio and a microphone to the helmet, the LAR is missing bulpup system or something like that. These are my first real models, I have tried making something like Glock-18 but failed, so it was basically just a way to get used with the program. 143 polys for a rifle is extremely low, I could implent it in Q1 and call it mid-poly amount ;D
My next goal - Make a new model, add radio and microphone to the helmet.
EDIT: Damn, who knew that a simple radio and a microphone could eat up 70 polys? Now it's 412 polys just for a single helmet... Still, I will post it up.
EDIT2: Helmet with radio and microphone uploaded.

Your polycount is relatively high.
I'd try not to cut a sphere in half, or cut a low poly one in half.
-
A little question - Do models support transparent textures? I'll give it a shot.

Yeah, 400 polys for a single helmet is extremely much... but look at it! It's so pretty!

Are we supposed to rip the piss out of them as you did with the sculptris dretch?

I try to keep as low as possible while still making it look good. Sculptris is definitely not the program for low-poly modelling.

There is no real goal to have these models to be implented in Trem.
This also means I might post something that's not related to Trem.
And actually, I didn't try to tell him that he sucks, just the model isn't as good and doesn't represent the actual in-game character. Dretch is hard to re-create and still keep it original. Trying to re-create a dragoon or a tyrant could be much easier as you could be able to change more stuff of the character, for example, making a Tyrant have horns on it's head to explain the huge damage from charge attack. However, making something that hasn't been made is even easier, as you can use your imagination.

Yes in Blender you can do anything that you can imagine material wise......
Go into the material panel and lower the alpha value, anything lower than 1 will make it somewhat to totally transparent.
Poly wise, I guess you can stick high poly.
Eventually you will get a feeling for how much to have and how too much gets you into a big mess.

UPDATE!!!
I managed to remove some polys:
* LAR1 poly count has changed 143 --> 141 (but with the new updates it's ~300)
* LAR1 has been made a little thinner.
* Helmet poly count has changed 412 --> 394
* Pictures won't be updated till I'm finished.
WIP:
* Doing the last touches with LAR1.
* LAR1 has now an optical sight. I'm still having little problems making the transparency look good.
* Thinking about adding a flash light on the helmet.
* I'm making a new model (it's a secret)

those look crap, try redoing them

SPAM --- Hay man Wings 3d is the worst modeling program ever created in history. Move too blender man. (Suggestion)

Blender? Gosh, tried doing something with it and in 3 days I learned how to make a cube... With Wings3D I'm working for a week and I can make some simple models. True, maybe Wings3D isn't the most powerful tool, but it's quite good for me as I'm doing all this for entertainment purposes only.those look crap, try redoing them

Good news, you will be able to see the more detailed LAR1 this day. I also managed to cut down some polys from the LAR1, however it still isn't finished.

proportions are off.
you have plenty of people here HELPING you, why are you whining about it not being perfect?
anyways.. you should learn blender, wings will get you no where at all.... and blender is more about the whole "entertainment" persona than any other program.

proportions are off.
True, but it's nowhere near the final product.

I see nobody saying what is wrong with models, and I'm not whining.

Maybe... maybe...
Anyway, I'm near the almost final product of LAR1. However, the optical sight doesn't really look like it should, so I removed the texture.

Ok then, so you've drawn what looks like a poorly constructed igloo and an elaborate piece of guttering, happier now? Sadly it doesn't even look like an arse (http://tremulous.net/forum/index.php?topic=14555.msg210180#msg210180).

Blender 2.55 my friend has a totally reworked GUI!
I can add a cube to a scene in 2 seconds, much easier then before.
-
I can add a cube to a scene in 2 seconds, much easier then before.
I can add a cube in zero seconds.
The default scene has a cube added already, in fact.

True, I did tell it a little too harsh, but lets not go off-topic. Besides, I can't see any topic where I m whining! I will start to whine, because I can't find where am I whining! AND, do I really have to quote a message where I quoted myself 3 times?

Blender does have a default cube on startup also.
-
Yes, that's what I said. Blender already has a cube when it starts up. Congratulations on discovering this.
-
The new menu system is what I'm talking about, stop playing stupid.
-
It must be an old version then :P Still, I will finish the rifle on Wings3D, and will give the new model a shot on the blender.

Update!
Finally made it to post the goddamn rifle - I really don't have much time lately. The helmet hasn't got any update, just cut off about 10 polys - not worth uploading a new picture.
Some stuff I made for the LAR.
* Yes I know, the iron sight is too big, however, now I can remove the optical sight and still have something to aim with :P
* >.< Shell casing ejection is on the wrong side
* About 60 poly cut off from alpha versions.
* Dang, used 1 light rendering instead of 2 like I did it to the helmet, however, it looks bit better with 1 light.
