So, once on Nexus6 (because Ingar and Jex'es maps are best) I randomly thought of an idea: Basilisks can play dead.
It should show the latest way they took damage as if they died on human chat (HAXOR was gunned down by HAXOR#2) but they arent actually dead, to not give it away.
Basilisks should not emit blood when playing dead, but take 2x damage.
Sooooo..... OP or not?
-
so a basi playing dead takes twice as much damage as one that's running around? do such basis appear on radar? if this kind of thing were to be implemented i'd just put a clip into any basi corpse i came across on sight, it's a cheap kill at 2x damage.
Soooooo.... utterly pointless

It's not OP it's...it's just terrible...

They have every reason to think its dead. If attacked, players would walk by the corpse and he would come back to life and back attack. If They walk into you're corpse, your dead. It may not be very good, but on some ocasions yes. Maybe not 2x but still shouldnt emit blood. Defineltely not on radars, that would give it away, because good players would corpse check anyways.
Because abilities are only good on some occasions. like Gas, Barbs, Zap, ETC.

This doesn't work because unlagged causes enemies to die while your follow up shots (ones you fire not knowing you've basically already killed the enemy) are still "in the air", especially for high pingers. Of course this is more in relation to lasguns, chainguns, and rifles, but the example is that you have 150 ping, you shoot at a lisk, it appears to die, but then a bunch of shots you fired after the lisk's fake death was sealed make contact with it, doing the extra damage suggested, probably revealing it, and most likely killing it.
-
i think invisibility to radar when not moving would just be a simple and better ability. then again if i remember right, the devs said they don't want invisibility of any form and playing dead might be under that and/or is easy to counter.
I don't think it should take 2X damage, in fact i think it should take NO damage what-so-ever. the trade in is that it can only do this for 20 seconds (max) at a time with a recharge time of 30 seconds so it can't be spammed.

I don't see why unlagged would effect this idea? The laggy client would fire at a basi running across the floor, then see the basi die. The same thing happens on the server just at a different time. Meh, but maybe I'm just tired and not thinking clearly. Also, iirc the chaingun isn't unlagged.
Oh, but yeah. I don't like this idea, the basi is op enough, and this doesn't seem that helpful.

Yes it is.

No they wouldn't. This gives them a reason to never think a basilisk is dead.

Also disable turning around and grabbing, that'll give away ur identety. It would be weird seeing a dead body turning towards you.

BEWARE THE ZOMBIE BASILISKS!

I'm more concerned about zombie threads, their numbers are growing at an alarming rate.

You could maybe roll the idea into a more stealthy basilisk where a basilisk or adv basilisk will only show up on radar when moving. It would add an ambush nuance to basilisk play post stage 1. It could be OP, especially if even the normal basilisk gets it at one evolve point.

Definetly OP. 15% of my average basilick life was hiding beehind something waiting for a human to pass.

I've had ideas about getting rid of radar altogether for both teams and having maybe some kind of indicator (audio, visual pulsing light, both maybe) that detects the player's proximity to an enemy. Would have to be tuned up pretty good. Of course, such a thing could change the game a lot. It was just an idea that popped up for me.

I dunno for it to be effective you would have to be unmoving since before humans enter radar range. You would not be able to reposition for a better ambush without flashing a blimp or two on the enemy radar. On second thought, it would make finding the last person on transit fucking annoying, forget it.

Decent stage 3 idea......
-
i dont think it'll help that much. most folks who have played for a decent length of time know the good spots to hide and tend to look in those places.
i'd rather see grab and claw ranges brought nearer to each other.

Hmm, a subtle name change and with zeroed karma, wouldn't be evading a ban, would you?
