I have always wondered if there are more girls playing tremulous than i notice. i would like to know if im playing w/ or against a girl so i dont accidently diss them or make them uncomfortable in anyway! plz u should let us guys know so we dont treat u wrong.

I doubt any girl, especially the kind of girl who would play Tremulous, would care if some stranger on the internet called them a ghey fagz0r. On behalf of however many girls play, they appreciate the gentlemanly thought, but I think they can handle the intense emotional damage brought by internet disses.

If, however, it were found that 999 out of 1000 Tremulous players were white, that might be concerning. In that case, it would be useful to know how many black people play.
From a purely statistical standpoint, it is known that more males play computer games than females. If Tremulous's statistics do not correlate with those of other computer games, what is Tremulous doing right or wrong?

It's racism that causes people to view members of other abstract groups as inferior to members of their own abstract group; it is ignorance and the proper conditioning that causes racism.

I'm not surprised that not many females play Tremulous on a regular basis. Personally I believe that most females will see Tremulous as being yet another first person shooter game that is all about fast action and male testerone. Most girls I know seems to prefer games like sim or any games that are big on the social aspects of games.

I probably shouldn't revive this thread, but there seems to be some misconceptions on girls gaming.  When I bring my server up, it is usually all girls that play on it.  I have a daughter that likes to game with her friends.  There are 6-8 of them that play.  It used to be Quake3 and UT2004, but they seem to enjoy Tremluous more these days as being aliens is more to their liking than toting guns.  It used to be an occasional LAN party, but slowly has become more and more internet play.

They don't like playing with foul-mouthed, rude little jerks which is for the most part what is found on public servers today.  That is why they play on their own server. It has nothing to do with racism, or being sexist.  It has everything to do with common decency and a little maturity which is really lacking in this game community.

This is not meant to be a rant, but a bit of an explanation why you don't see too many girls gaming on your servers.  Some girls like FPS, just not the players.  (Xonya and a few others may have different opinions, but...)

I love your stereotype on the average gamer. I've been playing games for my entire life *Cept for 5 years when I lost my computer and consoles to my evil step-mom* and I've had plenty of girlfriends and such. I also know plenty of other "Geeks" who have had and are still in relationships.

I swear..I hate this whole "Geeks don't get laid" sterotype, just something made up back in the old days. If you go to the gaming conventions and such, you will notice that the modern day gaming crowd has actually stopped doing the whole "Pocket protector" thing that was around years before.

We will just have to settle for people not being able to act maturely on the internet... I can't either. The only way to maintain a standard of matureness/ decency is on private servers or on servers that enforce a code of conduct. The latter is often very difficult due to the fact that the overwhelming majority of players are immature prats.

Sorry to say, but it is not difficult. Just make sure you don't kick w/o giving a reason and warnings. On our server it works like a charm and it is not a private (pwd-prot) server...

I admin sst server, and follow its rules to the letter.
I'm probably the most lenient admin on killaz.
Furthermore, I hardly play around killaz anymore, only warlock adn streepe, because they're FRIENDS of mine. They're the only reason I joined killaz and everyone around me knows it. If any of them was to leave killaz tomorow, I'd do so as well.

As for being affiliated with them, a clan doesn't define single individuals. If you think it does, you should go jump off a cliff. The fact that my clan master and half our members are asses doesn't mean I'm one, in fact I'm the nicest person you'll ever see, until you insult me, in which case you're likely to find hell on earth.

Kicked for lucy spaming on sst:Server rule indicate to kick for it, player was an idiot and complained about his own idiocity
Mute for insulting an admin: Quite clear
Mute for swearing: There are no rules stating I can or can't, but there is one stating that I can mute for anything that I find insulting, as such I'm at the liberty to mute if I so want. On the other hand, swearing is prevented on a dozen server so far, and I don't see how not swearing affects anyone's gameplay.


Now, anyone who thinks there is no such thing as a girl gamer should really get in touch with the current society. There are a lot more of them then most people know.
