I used to have tremulous installed in kubuntu and it was great. I had to reinstall and i installed ubuntu instead (with compiz) and now i get really bad textures and cant save my screen settings. I can save the control settings but the resolution always goes back to the default one.
any ideas?
thanks
P.S. all my setting are set to high and 32 bits
xgl tends to screw with anything else trying to use opengl, i'm too lazy to search for it, but there is a thread on the ubuntu forums about making games work with xgl (i think it's in the dapper gaming section, but i'm not sure)
[edit] i have no life: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=176636
also, i just looked at it, and it is a hack, if you want to run 3d games, you should probably just stick to xorg and metacity[/edit]
i found it and it works (for the texture problem!)

now, any ideas on how to fix the screen settings so i dont have to choose 1600x1200 every time? thanks
make sure that ~/.tremulous/base/autogen.cfg is writable and owned by you, other than that, i can't think of anything that would reset the resolution.
Take a look:
