3 weeks ago I was happily playing trem in gay abandon when my original laptop broke.
I borrowed a laptop while I looked for a new one. On this borrowed laptop which was, spec wise, far superior to my original laptop, but for some reason when I tried to play tremulous on it, it lagged. It was not the bad computer/bad fps sort of lag, more internet being rubbish lag. I'd turn corners on some hummys and then the frame would just freeze and a half second later im dead on the floor, same story when i enter the humans base, and it happens less often but sporadically when im just building or walking with noone else in sight.
I originally thought it was AA having problems as it was very reminiscent of server lag, but I went to other servers and it was exactly the same.
I thought it might just be that the borrowed laptop was a bit wierd and virus-ridden (it had no antivirus software). But when i got my current new laptop and returned the borrowed one, the new laptop still had the same problems.
Please help me, I need trem.
This is all tremulous 1.1
Old broke laptop: vista
Borrowed laptop: vista (could be wrong, but most likely vista)
New laptop: Windows 7
EDIT: Also I dont have any lag issues with any other online games

Could you tell us what exactly are you graphic chipsets ? I don't know if it might help but my computer, which is superior to my brother's one, had the same freezing issues each time a turret exploded, whereas my brother's don't...
Oh, and what are your other online games ? Any ioquake3 based game ?

Lol @ "Please help. I NEED Trem."
But don't despair. I had a computer that lagged to death every time I fired a shot, and it ended up that it was just some cvars relating to internet connection.
But we need more details to do anything. When does it lag? Does your FPS change? What computer/what specs? Come on, long post, not much info!

graphics card: AMD Radeon HD 6320
and the specs are here: http://www.pricerunner.co.uk/pi/27-2752188/Laptop-Computers/Sony-Vaio-VPCEL2S1E-W-Product-Info
It lags mostly when I turn a corner on some hummys, and when I turn a corner into the hummy base (so when the hummys are obscured from view by walls etc. and are then unobscured). The frame freezes for a fraction of a second. And then after that fraction of a second the next time i see my fps its in the 30s, but quickly shoots back up to 90.
here be a pic of my lagometer while I'm in the hummy base (scroll sideways to see the lagometer)

And the other online games are things like: LoL and TF2 etc. no ioquake3 games other than trem.

Hmmm... sounds like GeneralScott's issue. It might be a Cvar problem as he said, but I don't know which ones are involved.

Generalscott, I want to profess, my undying, unyielding, wholehearted love of yourself.
IT WORKED! I CAN PLAY TREM AGAIN.
I just typed in console
/cl_maxpackets 60 (i dont think this did anything, but it might of)
and
/rate 25000
AND TREMS IS BACK TO ITS BOOTIFUL UNLAGGY SELF.
