Title: [Solved] Server making my Client shutdown
Post by: Vaur on February 18, 2012, 10:35:38 am
Hello!

So, i was trying to setup an Invasion server. So I follow instructions from BigGamer95 in order to compile, and run it. The Invasion mod works with Lakitu. As far as I can tell the compilation went just fine, I got the tremded and the QVM, which I put in the right folder. When I try to boot up the server every thing goes normally. The server is shown in my Local Servers, but when I tried to go to the server, after the screen "Awaiting game state", my client shutdown.

Here is log file from the server (http://vaur.ath.cx/log.txt). Here is the one from the client (http://vaur.ath.cx/log-client.txt).

My client is TJW. I also test with the old client, same thing happens.
So I tried different things, including a complete change of tremded and QVM, and guess what ? I managed to reproduce the same bug, with Mercenaries Guild tremded and Lakitu qvm found Here (http://projects.mercenariesguild.net/projects/lakitu7-qvm/files)

So I am guessing that it's not a problem with the tremded or with the QVM, but I don't know what else to do.

It's possible that i forget essential file config for the server, but which one ?

Thanks for reading, and I hope you will be able to help me. :)

Edit: I finally found what was wrong. The original pk3 should be in the folder base, in the same folder than the tremded, if they are put, in ~/.tremulous/base Tremulous will load the wrong qvm.

Thanks to BigGamer95, Pierref and Oops, who were a great help (it's seems simple like that, but it was a pain in the ass to figure it out).

thanks for updating your post with the actual problem and solution.  to many people would just have ignored their post, or posted "nvm i fixed it" without doing that, and future users who might have encountered the same problem would be lost.
