Alright the Main reason there are less players playing I think is because the constant player base count is going because a good part of the new players install the beta game and see that NO ONE is there.
Next if they check the forums they see a post saying how to revive the game, lending to there guess the games dead (When its not!).
So to the logic if you fix the websites layout (by making it harder to get the beta vir of the game) you will see a higher player base. Logic ? me being stupid? you can decide.
-we should get the stats on download trends for the game and the beta to confirm my fears :)

I have good news for you: Tremulous is not dying
Because it died 5 years ago.

It's true. As you can see, we're still haunted by the part of vcxzet that died with it.
I'm glad that, like me, you want a larger player base but frankly, I think these ideas are pretty stupid. Discouraging/keeping people from downloading GPP? Hiding negative forums posts? Tell me if I've misunderstood.
Aside from moral objections to this sort of censorship, I really don't think it would help increase the number of players. If anything, such tactics could drive away new players and old players alike.
As far as I can see, the only method of drawing players in that works is first: advertising in all it's forms; and second: improving the product, not just improving the game but also how it is perceived (as much as I dislike 'branding', it works).

lmao.
you are fucking retarded. there, i saved a lot of people the effort of writing that.
normally i dont bandy such insults, especially to new fucks.
make it harder to download GPP? if anything, they need to make gpp the standard and include only a link to a full GPP install, rather than forcing a 1.1 download and then a gpp install. when you go up a version number, you do not leave the last version running concurrently.
as for hiding negative forum posts..... have you ever been to the forums of any other fps? this shit here is kiddy stuff. if you cannot stand the heat, dont read the thread.
jesus, you act as if there is someone holding you at gunpoint, forcing you to read everything.

Looks like it's someone's time of the month.
The only thing he said about forum posts was that when people see posts about the game being dead they feel discouraged. Nowhere was there any mention of having to read lots of posts or any mention of content other than a dead game. You seem to be blowing things way out of proportion.

i am following up on nux. correctly, i might add.
he claims forum posts that the game is dead (a negative viewpoint)are part of the reason trem is "dying". as he gives none of his own possible solutions, nux assumes the obvious, hide/censor such posts. nux has not been corrected, so i ran with his assumption.
do you know how common "this game is dead" topics/posts are in fora for FPS games that are over 5 years old??
and yes, it is that time of the month that i am sober, and thus a huge dick.

It's true that he didn't say the forums should be censored but he was blaming 'revive tremulous' threads for being a contributory factor in our dwindling player numbers. If that's what it takes for someone to decide against playing Tremulous then I can't imagine they were very much interested in the first place. Aside from that, I personally don't see 'revive tremulous' threads as a sign it's dead. It's a sign that this game continues to have a following of people that only wish there were as many players as there used to be.
It's sad that player numbers have dropped since the heyday of Tremulous but over the six years I've played this game I've seen plenty of players come and go and I'm still seeing new players even today. As far as I can see, there are still more than enough regular players to continue playing regularly.
