Title: Tremulous Development
Post by: stonarda on September 06, 2013, 10:21:49 am
Hey guys,

I'm learning how to code and have known about this game for quite a while. As this project seems to be abandoned, I would like to take it over alongside a few friends of mine in order to develop it further. I am looking to purchase or gain the rights to the entire game and its copyrights, to release a new version similar to something such as Planet Side 2 (but the same old Tremulous). If you own the rights to this game, and are interested, please post here so that we may continue with this.

the game code and assets were developed by a diverse set of contributors, all being individuals. the code is mostly covered by the GNU GPL v2+ license, meaning that any modifications you make to the code will have to be published along with compiled/binary releases. similar conditions apply to the assets, which are covered mostly by the CC-BY-SA 2.5 license: you'll need to give credit to the author of each asset. in order to purchase exclusive rights to the code and assets, you would have to track down all contributors and acquire individual licenses. this is practically impossible. otherwise, you're free to develop a new game based on the original Tremulous with the said minimal restrictions.

the code for the tremulous.net version of Tremulous can be downloaded from the relevant GitHub repository (https://github.com/darklegion/Tremulous).

i hate you forever.

planetside 2 is nothing but a very bad "modern shooter" with almost every community suggestion for 1 added in.

you should play 1 sometime, now that it is free so you can see just how much smedley sucks cocks.

I've been learning through trial and error for a year, probably equivalent to 3 weeks learning through a textbook, however I learnt the trem source a fair bit in the cgame-game-bothgame section. My codes are still not stable. Learn from this anecdote.

It's amazing how people that mod Tremulous can laugh so hard about other people wanting to mod Tremulous.

no reference.
Reference for you for 'developing' both 1.1 and GPP mods:
1. Cuboid, GPP-1.1/ProTrem: spiney.me/tremulous/index.php
2. EDGE? (I have no idea if yalt still mods it)
3. W (Not that anyone has replied to my confirmation of helping them out :S)
4. Z (**SUN**'s Nazi-Zombie-like zombie skins are going to be implemented to replace the old bloody sarge)
5. ?!?
