Hello all,
I've been playing Tremulous 1.1.0 for a while now, but recently decided to update to a backport client for a number of reasons.
However, once I replaced the trem binary with the backport binary I found myself stuck at the main screen staring at numerous "menddef.h not found" errors.
I'm running Linux Mint 13 MATE 32bit. In an effort to diagnose the issue I downloaded both the tremulous-1.1.0-installer.x86.run and the tremulous-1.1.0.zip files from the official tremulous site. Surprisingly both also generated the error. I replaced the binaries in both with the known working binary from my first install and was able to play without issue. I do not recall where I got the working binary from, its been many months since I installed it.
I've tried a number of workarounds to get the "official" and backport to run.
I've added a "menddef.h" file (a renamed copy of menudef.h) into the data-1.1.0.pk3 archive. This resulted in an odd error, where the screen remained at the pig-in-tophat and my cursor was a black square that would blackout portions of the screen as it moved.
My next attempt was to go and modify the first lines of all .menu files in the ui folder of the archive so that their first lines all said "menddef.h" instead of "menudef.h". This again resulted in the black square error.
Am I destined to just play Trem 1.1 without a backport?
Any help is appreciated.

there's already a menddef.h issue thread (http://tremulous.net/forum/index.php?topic=17166.0).

Firstly, don't edit the data-1.1.0.pk3 file. Create a new pk3 and stuff everything there becaused editing that data file invalidates your client and it becomes inpure, and you won't be able to join 'pure' servers.
Also, here's a list of a few binaries listed for various tremulous clients with links, feel free to choose:

Just note that tremfusion doesn't have the normal main menu, they got rid of that fps-eating 3-D worthless planet.

where did you get the source? I have the dreaded Menddef.h error on installation
