GPP-wise, there aren't any US servers afaik so it'll die out soon in america, my side of the world doesn't even have a server anymore (used to be asia unofficials) but it's not like people went there unless I organised some games...
1.1-wise, it's still somewhat popular for americans and europeans, but apparently its playerbase has been reduced to gpp-like and its stagnant games (I prefer not to play on AA althought I prefer to play vanilla for my own reasons) is starting to drive me away.

this game isnt dead just need more people, hopefully you guys actually play so the devs actually update the game. Ever since the moving to XBOX joke people have put this down i DONT GET IT :o >:(

Today i played with 30ppls on atcs, i must say that this game is not dead, just gpp version are dead!!

And btw if you haven't solved the resolution problem yet you can get a newer client with more features here: http://mirror.kdude63.com/mercenaries_guild/archive/Client_Binaries/ (http://mirror.kdude63.com/mercenaries_guild/archive/Client_Binaries/)
In addition to supporting a higher resolution you also get a GUID so that you can register.

all damaged except last one, i failed to install it also when i tryed from http://risujin.org/tremulous/#backport it always says about menu problem :/
I installed exe from http://mirror.kdude63.com/mercenaries_guild/archive/Client_Binaries/tjw/ but still no 1920x180 resolution.

Sorry i have no experience with Risujin. I would have used tjw but since my comp is 64bit, tremfusion was the only thing i got working.

If that's what you want.. open the console, and type these magic scripts:
r_customheight 1080
r_customwidth 1920on some clients (i.e tremfusion) they've changed the cvars to
r_height 1080
r_width 1920
