hey everyone! just curious, especially aimed towards the more devout and involved trem players/community members, for which tremulous was a big chapter in your life as it was in mine. what you are up to now that tremulous is pretty much gone? job, education, hobbies, changes in beliefs or politics, other games you are involved in? life in general? not that there's anyone left on these forums, but for anyone who sees.
for me, now... I work in air conditioning, am starting my fourth semester soon at college...and there's a girl...:) God is seriously awesome.
what are you guys all up to now? :acidtube: :acidtube: :acidtube: :acidtube: just for myself, not sure if this would apply for everyone but I know it does for some...but looking back and seeing how much has changed, for better or for worse, it is kinda crazy.

I hang around on IRC with people I came to know through tremulous and have absolutely no life. Even this cool guy I used to hang around with called your_face hardly comes on IRC anymore. That's life.
-
Finished my undergraduate degree, now looking for work as a molecular biologist with my two years of research experience.
Also, you know, this thing. (http://www.unvanquished.net/)

5th semester of my Computer Engineering undergraduate. Taking it kinda slow. I was gearing up to join the Navy but then I was hit by a car in a crosswalk. Had a minor head injury.
Once I recovered, I discovered that I could move small objects with my mind, but it gave me more headaches and small blackouts so I stopped.
I'm so busy now that I don't do much gaming, let alone PC gaming. I spend idle minutes on N4G, but really there's no community that I'll love as much as the perverse cesspool of ye olde trem.

I could move small objects with my mind
Eh?

Well trem was always a pretty big part of my life; the community, the admiration, the friends. I was worried that it would leave quite a big hole when it died. I won't lie, it has been hard, but I have been proactive in finding new activities. I have taken up flower arranging, unfortunately they keep dying and the Overmind is down. I also have a new exercise regimen, I will stick to it this time. Last month I went outside to buy some instant noodles. It was cold, the sun was too bright. I have endeavoured to make a real life friend, he brings me my letters, we are yet to talk, I suspect he may be muted. There is a smell coming from the cupboard, I find myself unwilling to open it. Yesterday I broke my wrist, confirming my suspicion that I can no longer wallwalk. I do not like noodles. help

kharnov: omg what kind of mad scientist stuff are you planning to do with that degree?? that sounds intense.
hayyy conzul. indeed, what i miss most about tremulous is the community ;( the game wasnt even that great, i mean it was ok, but oh well.
haii amz! omg flower arranging.

I'll skip the autobiography, but in summary: I'm married, I'm still with Walmart (Assistant Store Manager), I have a mortgage on a house, and I still miss a lot of Tremulous players on a regular basis. I don't think the feeling I got when we won a close scrim, or talked math homework with buddies ten states away, or noclipped through the bottom of a map and just fell for hours while talking TV shows and politics... can ever be replaced by anything.
Every now and then I type the forum URL in my browser out of almost-forgotten habit, and usually I find nothing. Every single time, though, I get a bittersweet feeling from seeing the word "Tremulous." I know the game meant different things to all of us, but for me it represents, as Face said, a "chapter" in my life.

well for me is exam time since i'm 17 and in final of 2nd semester. i downloaded a new game called WOT wich is my fav. i dont usually visit trem much, althrough i occasionally go on gpp

Fools.
There is no life after Tremulous.

Ironically, as soon as i got a stable internet access at home, i pretty much stopped playing trem.
I played from my previous workplace a lot, staying late in the office, sometimes the cleaning lady waking me up in the morning.
I'm doing animated explainer videos with a new company now, mostly for US startups, and i'm with a girlfriend who beats me in Mortal Kombat (her lethal kitana and sony vs my old school jax scopr/subZ). We're mostly "hot-seat" playing rpgs nowadays like fallout and skyrim, she doing merchandising and outdoor horse riding, me exploring the scary dungeons, while she's spotting items on the floor that i wouldn't notice otherwise.
She did actually record my face while i was playing marauder. A video i cant unsee anymore so i stopped trem immediately. My online multiplayer(=more than one) experience is reduced(or upgraded) to chess, what is awesome btw.
Funny to see how i got into this game and the community back then, its romantic, little bit bitter and grotesque.
At the time i was working on both of my MA degrees in school (besides jobs) what were pretty much infulenced by trem and online gaming.
All the irc and forum debates helped me a lot to get better in english - so i can work now in an english only international environment.
Besides many other benefits i beleive.
cheers! :-)
+++++
in addition: i created the nickname optimus for trem only ( and before the new gen transformers movies came out that i hate ), and i also made my email address of this name during that time, so in my new workplace everyone calls me optimus, opti, OP, or prime no matter how official the discussion is. hell, some people doesn't even know my real name :-)

A few years ago, I think in 2010, I estimated that tremulous would die to "one-server popularity" in 2014 and it seems my estimations are surprisingly somewhat accurate (just F server and AA left). For some reason my long-term estimated events tend to have a >50% of occurring. I'll say another one of those predictions now, even if no one likes it: Unvanquished's community will become "dead" (~<10 unique people who play at least once a month) around 2018-19. It'll grow slowly, then it'll die out basically.
Unvanquished's future is kinda unpredictable though by trends since it really isn't going anywhere significant at the moment unless they'll go greenlight which'll extend their population life.
well for me is exam time since i'm 17 and in final of 2nd semester. i downloaded a new game called WOT wich is my fav. i dont usually visit trem much, althrough i occasionally go on gpp
meh for wot. I already moved to War Thunder since then. I generally play simulator mode and realistic battles with the planes (formerly known as historical/full real battles but was renamed because too much alternate history crap and the simulator physics are missing quite a number of realistic features), although I actually have access to the ground forces. I just can't run it; the fauna on the CBT maps crashes the graphics driver.
As kharnov mentioned somewhere, sometime, my computer is weird.
As for education, I'm taking a diploma in aeronautics hoping it'll get morphed into the advance diploma which the education agency is *planning* (TM) to do but I highly doubt it'll get approved this year. If it doesn't get approved by next year, I might have to go to another city, which is worse enough for a hikikomori. And yeah, I watch anime now.
But wow, 135'000-170'000 AUD to get to the commercial license stage where you're able to earn money. Wow.
I'm also interested in designing aircraft and physics scientist but well, the one thing I chose costs too much money to do multiple career paths simultaneously. Besides, in about 30 years I could possibly be earning as much as the prime minister of australia. A380 pilots here in australia get paid 150% (pre-tax) of what the prime minister earns yearly.
Obviously. Majoring in dretching.
I read that as majoring in mahjong.

it has never been alive to begin with.

mit has never been alive to begin with.
[/quote]I still expect it to grow... slowly though. Something like Xonotic, but not as large. Xonotic is more dead-er than trem now though, only one keeping it alive is a crazy australian talking in annoying colourful colours named 'Mario'

I'm currently working for a small chemical engineering and operations training software company as primary graphics developer with some time also devoted to software development and simulation model building.
I still play tremulous.
-
I can't envisage a life after Tremulous even though I tried to live one, I keep coming back - I even had to reactivate my account just to post because I got excited that Face made a topic and it resonated with me. This is how sad I am. :)
I'm in my penultimate year of my engineering degree, trying to look for work (placement) during the summer, bouldering and playing Dota 2. I can't say Trem's influenced my real life as such apart from the fact that I've picked up a few curse words in Polish and Portuguese, and made me realise that internet frands aren't true friends (but come close to them). From time to time I'll log on to Trem and hang around to see if there are any old faces on.
Also amz, if you flower arranged a bit harder maybe the OM wouldn't be down. If you stopped being so gai then you'd realise that 'CAMAN' is the only way the human team can express their affection for you by shooting in your face and teabagging your corpse.
Nate for someone who's in the army you have a lot of free time.

I'm currently working as a programmer for a startup that's doing prostate cancer research (hit me up if you want to talk about prostates (seriously!)). I don't have much time for games anymore, which is just as well because I haven't found anything that is nearly as good as Tremulous.
I had more to say but i'm getting all nostalgic and the bottom line is that I miss you all and I miss Tremulous. lots. i'll never decon the overman in my heart.

Does post-tremulous era depression count then?

Wow. i just logged in for the first time in a long time. for those who doesn't know me, i'm currently (ingarlg). i am also sad to see tremulous is now dead. i guess most of you have moved on, gotten married. or studies. work. etc. people get older. other things are more interesting and so on. i'll still miss the old days when there were as much as 2,000 people online at the most. :/ good times.

Tremulous is still alive, it is just going through a transition. Yes there are currently only several hundred regular players as opposed to the many thousands of regular players it used to have, and the Tremulous.net forums are hardly used these days. However, work is being done by an independent group of Tremulous enthusiasts called GrangerHub to produce a new version of Tremulous complete with a new client and new servers, along with a new website that will offer support, resources, and tools for a future growing Tremulous community.
This new version of Tremulous will not be a different game, it will still be the Tremulous we love but with most of the old major and fundamental problems and bugs addressed, as well as a bunch of new features, while still performing well on older low end computers. Also both the new client and the new servers are compatible with the old 1.1 and gpp clients and servers. In addition there will be an updater/launcher included with the initial release (something Tremulous always needed), so we can continue to cross items off of our wish list in subsequent releases ( http://discourse.grangerhub.com/t/tremulous-launcher-development/1102 ).
I can't give a hard date at this time as to when GrangerHub will have its initial release, but it will be very SOON(TM). We are working hard to ensure that the experience of the initial release is of high quality for new and old players/developers/mappers/modelers/clans alike to ensure a successful reboot of the game. In the meantime GrangerHub has public development games on its test7341 server every Saturday ( http://discourse.grangerhub.com/t/saturday-grangerhub-development-games/206 ) and Thursday ( http://discourse.grangerhub.com/t/thursday-grangerhub-development-games/892 ). The public discussions about the development is taking place in this category: http://discourse.grangerhub.com/c/tremulous/tremulous-development .
GrangerPub also hosts an old school 1.1 vanilla server available for play by all 1.1 and gpp clients that is currently the primary active server in Tremulous (but it is hoped that the initial release will result in many other highly active servers that would be owned and managed independent from GrangerHub). I should mention, however, that unlike the test7341 server that is based on the most recent code, GrangerPub is currently based on a 1.1 server qvm (slacker) with the multiprotocol feature and some other enhancements, but comes with most of the bugs of that old qvm. Information about GrangerPub can be found at this thread: http://tremulous.net/forum/index.php?topic=17521.0 .
Tremulous is a free and open source software project, and as such Trem will continue to live for as long as anyone is willing to play and develop it in their free time. Despite its age, Tremulous still has a lot of untapped potential, and is still a fun game and project to be a part of.

Software engineer in California, married, no kids. Miss this damn game all the fucking time, and all the fond memories of SST.

After I stopped Tremulous, I opened a Minecraft server around April 2015 and its still running as of date.
-
I’m turning 18 in a couple days. While reminiscing, I realized trem was undeniably a big part of my childhood, good times ye.
Also, I’m sorry to the people I insulted with my childish manners.
Cheers!
-
I think I was 12 or 13 when I started playing Tremulous (more than a decade ago..) certainly explains why I was often childish when first playing, I was an actual Child!!! As much as from a general broad standpoint, murdering virtual humans and aliens wouldn't be my 1st recommendation for kids to experience, I certainly had a blast!
-
hi guys
-
Not much left in the way of guys, gals, or aliens around these parts..
-
mooseberry u killed trem
-
It's possible. If so I guess I should include that on my resume, huh?

Probably.
