Title: Team Spectating
Post by: dormedas on August 19, 2006, 07:38:36 pm
Yeah. When you're doing an S2-S3 S3-S3 deathmatch and you need to spawn but there's no spawns. That view on any map gets quite boring after a while. I mean like if you have no spawns left you should be able to hit enter or some other key to engage team spectating while you wait for a spawn or wait til the end of the match.
Anyone else feel the same way?

NOTE: I mean team spectating WITHOUT pressing back on the spawn dialog.

Per say I wanted to be with the alien team for example and wanted to hear their team talking til the end? If I could do that Tremulous would be a 3 time more enjoyable experience. Minus the rapid louci spammers and luci noobs, they need to die.

Yeah, and lose my evo points/cash, make the teams look unbalanced, fail to spot the time when a spawn gets available, miss all important team messages and maybe lose my place on the team I was playing on.

Team spectating would actually reduce teamplay.

At the moment, if the builder dont tell you where is the om/or the eggs, you re lost and you dont know what to do. That means you re always oblige to communicate with teammates.
And that's only one example among others...
With team spectating you would get a lot of informations without even asking...just take the view of the builder, and you know where is your base/if it is in good shape, then take the view of the best killer in your team, and you know how the ennemy base looks like and its weak points.

Moreover, if the spawn time is so long that you badly need to find something else to do, that means your team has already lost. If your team had a spawn, you wouldn t wait more than 5 or 6 seconds...if its more than that, its probably because one guy is hiding but wont be able to do any harm to the ennemy. So you can take a book/check your emails and wait for the next map.

I actually flip a balisong while waiting for the map to load or for me to spawn.

I would like to see this implemented.
