Title: Problems Binding Keys
Post by: FisherP on August 21, 2006, 05:03:48 am
Hi, I use autoexec.cfg to bind a whole set of keys, some even to the default settings. Yesterday I was playing a game, and got disconnected somehow and now the bindings will not work. I can create my own server (which I do to test bindings) and all my bindings work, however as soon as I connect via internet to a game ALL my bindings are reset somehow. I have version 1.1.0 of trem, and like I said, was using them before it crashed, and now nada. How can I get my bindings to work again?

While in play call down the console and "/exec autoexec.cfg" .)

Some server doesn't allow binding. The PL one by exemple. But it's not worth logging in anyway.

They don't allow WHAT ? Not even simple things like a "use grenade" or "use jetpack" bind ?

That's the reason of my post .) If you are already in play exec'ing a conf with bind circumvents this limitation.

Hey Caveman, thanks. I forgot to mention that I tried exec'ing almost immediatly after the 'incident'. However I don't know if I used / or \.

I don't know if it was the small edit I did to the autoexec.cnf or getting the "/exec autoexec.cfg" right, but they work now. The only thing I can thnk of is that the file got scrambled somehow and the little space I added and deleted fixed it.   :-)

Even better is to have a seperate config with all your binds, and let that be executed by autoexec.cfg.

that isn't a great idea, tremulous will overwrite autoexec.cfg when any cvar or bind changes, and get rid of any changes you made (though if your change was a cvar or bind, it will get written back in, so it isn't always obvious), the workaround is to have a button that you use at the start of a game bound to exec that file (in my case, that button is either join humans or join aliens)
