why do ppl always get mad when i destroy machine guns to build Tesla gen. i dont destroy them all at once.. i destroy enof to make one generator... then destroy another one..... o i destroy machine guns that were placed badly ie not facing an entrance.. im just wondering
-
yeah kicked again... ya know just cause i de-constructed badly placed machine-guns... i hate these ppl.. no offense of course but i dont think i think you players no about strategy.. i was tryin to build them where it was a hallway not right near the base..... and i didnt actually de-construct that much.... just the same one.. i had to wait to build it somewhere else.. and teh nubs kicked me....
-
are you deconning ALL the sentry guns?
-
Well, teslas are not better then turrets. Actually, they are a tad worse when it comes to range and damage.
Nothing makes me more happy then a builder replacing turrets with teslas, since the DC is the only target on my mind.
Teslas are quite good when it comes to keeping maras away from bases and the reactor but thats where the fun ends.
They are bigger targets for adv goons and tyrants have no problems with them, due to shorter range and less DMG.
So, rethink before you build teslas or you might get kicked.
P.S.
Stop building shit in hallways away from base. You have guns for that.
Hummie defense are there to discurrage and protect base from aliens; not make the kills for you.

Any turret or tesla that's closer to the room entrance than to armoury, telenode, medistation or reactor is badly placed. Period. Turrets are not supposed to kill aliens, turrets are supposed to keep aliens from eating your base. If they're mile away from the nearest important structure, the first marauder that jumps over them can eat your base without getting hurt.

"teslas are worse" oh i just fuigured since they had to have a defence comp. and were more expensive tehy were better.... and i build the turrets where they can see out of the entrance... they still can see into teh base....but can also help slow enemies down

the moment s3 hits everyones like " omzg telsas!!!!1!"
waste of money, and only good at keeping out dretchs and maras
the Dc could be another turret, and once its dead, your base is dead
turrets all the way
the only time ive seen telsas be useful is in atcs when they can used as a barricade, and the amoury can hide the dc
and on nixus outpost (sp) when humans camp in the 1 door room and use 6 teslas to cover the base
-
A DC is quite a nice thing to complement turrets, it does make their turn speed faster.

There's no slowing down. If turrets can't shoot anything with 200+ hit points to tiny pieces before it can take second bite on any important structure, you should seriously think your defense layout over.

It does? When did this happen? Last I knew it only made turrets not all attack the same target.
-
DC has boosted turrets since... forever?
-
They go from 8 truning speed to 10 turning speed or a 25% increase. Not much but I didn't knew that one either.

PHREAK and next_ghost hit it right on.
Stagger your turrets, let people through. When you can build teslas put them in the base to keep aliens off of your structures (stop maras from sitting on the reactor etc.), and use the turrets to stop them from getting in the base...
If you find that your team has a problem with your building.. let them know in advance that your going to do it, tell them why, and maybe they won't think your a deconner or if your really doing something stupid and don't know it they have time to advise you against it... you won't get kicked half as much that way.

Its true that teslas DO have slightly less damage-per-second and shorter range.
However, they DO have higher health than turrets, they DO instantly attack enemies instead of turrets which have to turn and aim before they shoot bullets, and they give a nice "blowback" whenever they hit somhing mara-sized or smaller, effeictivly keeping away all smaller aliens from your base. They can also shoot directly below them, unlike turrets.
The best base defense are ones that mix both Teslas and Turrets. Turrets for the majority damage. They should be placed in spots where they will not have to turn around alot to hit the target (i.e, in a corner or directly behind a door). And then think of Teslas as a support turret, keeping smaller aliens out, yet damaging the larger stuff instantly and quickly. Place teslas so they are harder to hit (because they are bigger targets). For instance, with a door a good spot would be right outside the door's path, make it so you cant see them from the other side of the doorway.

Was that last night on SST? The problem is that you were destroying turrets instead of deconstructing them. You were sitting there with a blaster shooting them. First of all, that is really slow. Second of all, it looks like you are trying to destroy the base. Third, there is splash damage when buildings are destroyed.
If you were deconstructing instead of destroying, you probably would not have been kicked.

The advantage of teslas is that they don't take time to turn to face an enemy and small aliens can't stand on top on them and take them out.
Good defence generally consists of using teslas and turrets where their respective features are best exploited. E.g. using teslas at a door so they keep damaging enemies once they're past them (unlike turrets where the incoming alien moves faster than they can rotate) and using turrets where only a limited horizontal angle is to be covered, such as to protect the armoury from one direction.
All teslas is bad because once the aliens take the DC out the human base is defenceless.
...or one game where a n00b deconned the DC to make another tesla.
Anyway, there are occasions where n00bs suddenly have a votekick spazm when they see messages like "playerxyz deconned something" scroll by.

Aye. A combination of teslas and turrets are THE way to go.
I thought Dcomps also slightly increased attack speed/damage(?) of turrets, but I could be wrong.
The best use for teslas I find is to make them obstacles really. Placing them where 'rauders and 'goons cant jump past deters them greatly =D
And that wall in Karith/Nexus of teslas is possibly the only time I'd go almost full tesla... just because I know nothing is gonna pounce past THAT and there's enough insta-damage to wipe out even a tyrant. :P
