Title: Use proxy settings on socket 4 and 5.
Post by: Shelnutt2 on August 31, 2006, 12:35:48 am
Ok I need to know how to get tremulous to use the proxy on sock 4 or 5 connection.

I've used http://www.buzzsurf.com/surfatwork/ guide and its how I surf the web at school, but now I want to figuer out how to get tremoulus to use a socks 4 or 5 proxy connection so I can play at school. (I have lots of free time in Comp. Sci.) The school has blocked the ports that Tremulous uses..

Thanks!

Next week the game disapeared from the comp :(

...if your at school you should go learn stuff! Not play games!
Playing via proxy sounds bad.. Id suggest just seeing what ports are open on the network and then seeing if you could find a way to change the ports tremulous uses..

I never thought about the ping issue. I know port 1-30 are open, and I think around the 80's are open too. Ok so how do I go about changing the ports?

I know I should be learning at school, but I'm taking comp. Sci. and I'm alreayd an advet Java Programmer. I know more than all the other kids combined about java. So for atleast now I can get some gaming in =D.

joining only requres an outgoing connection.

you need to find a server running on one of those ports.

server ops should be able to use IP tables to make the server appeare to also be running on port 80 or whatever.

You need to change what port the server is on.

Have you tried asking them to unlock the ports? It worked for me at college :)

It did for me too :)

All you'd need is your teachers permission and then you can really see how far advanced you are .)

I'd ask for the standard port.
with that you'd be able to play on most servers.

Gee I'm sorry, sometimes one forgets there is a search button. No need to start being smart about it....
