Savage follows the same idea liek tremulous but pushes it mach further. For instance you have a full RTS part with ressource collection there.
But despite the differences I think its worth to take a look at it to get some inspiration how to solve some of tremulous gameplay problems...

it only works on windows, and is closed source.
and anyway, if you want to play Savage then go play Savage, tremulous != Savage and never will.
-
Savage works on Linux too, just scroll down a bit ;)
besides i dont say make Tremulous = Savage, but that Savage solved several Problems Tremulous is still facing...
-
Excuse me, but how can you compare a RPG / RTS with a FPS like Tremulous?
-
Interestingly enough, I got directed to Savage when I described Trem to another friend. And then they made Savage fully free just last month or so... so it's also sitting on my HDD :P
I've played both, but I still highly prefer Trem. Trem is tight, close-confine fighting. It doesn't require "better levels" so much as better skill.
That said, Savage does have its advantages, including a researchable tech tree, multiple items, their commander/RTS view is actually pretty spiffy (Make that VERY spiffy considering all the action that's really going on on-screen) and their own neat humans vs. monsters system.
Each has its own strengths, but I think my engineer will stick to Trem :P

Savage for Linux ;)

I think Savage just different, you can't say it's better or worse.
Actually I had this idea (RTSS) a while ago, before I'd even heard of Savage.
I'm going to try it. (315mb is a little big though)

thank you for the news, will sure check it out
-
Good news, thanks for the head up. Still it bothers me that the game is still closed source.
-
game looks horrible, why try to say it is better than trem, never will be.
-
Savage is not quite as good as Natural Selection but still far better than Tremulous.
-
Thats sad NSPlayer, joining here just to flame us.

That is not very nice Paradox. I was merely expressing an opinion D: How are you today Paradox? I am good thankyou. :D I may go and play NS soon.

Thx for the news :) I m always looking for new games
Unfortunatly it seems to be a multiplayer only game so i will have to get back to Europe before i can try it
(/me miss Trem so much........ T_T )
However...Shouldn t this thread be put in "Off-topic" section ? its not directly Trem-related...
-
Seems to crash an awful lot.
-
Savage promises a lot more than it delivers. Not to mention the fact that it's bugged as hell.
-
After reading the minimum requirement i was pretty sure it would run on my lappy (http://tremulous.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=1026#9641/), and.. it didn't!
In the lowest possible settings i get about 1,3 fps (and that's not 13..)
Thank god tremulous is still here for me :]

Their manual is even less useful than ours.

There is a reason for Savage's failure.
