maybe it would help if you delete your .tremulous/base/autoexec.cfg and autogen.cfg. Try and report ;)

if you can't set r_gamma more than 1, update your libSDL from 1.2.10 to 1.2.11

If all else fails, you can always manually change lcd Panel brightness. That's what I did.

In my experience (nvidia GF6600GT (binary driver) / i9xx integrated (dri drivers)) under linux the only way I can get trem brighter is using xgamma and works pretty well...   :)

Ops... xgamma is an X (*nix graphic server) command, not a win32 command...
under windows r_gamma 2 in console always worked... for me

Sorry, but I don't have much experience with win... I just showed the game to some friends and r_gamma worked... I only can say : "What graphic card do you have ? Do you have installed the latest drivers?"

btw to all the ppl with wrong version of libsdl
do you get weird mouse boxing error while windowed? I mean when I open terminal on top of windowed trem, then switch to trem, then maximize, now my mouse has boundaries, i cant do 360 degrees turn :/ its like libsdl still thinks im in the desktop and doesnt let my mouse move more than it likes in one direction.

Open the console. Quake 3 should then unlock the mouse and allow you to alt-tab out of it.

 I have this problem too... but not always...
switching back to window mode, clicking on another windows the clicking back in trem windows moving mouse solves the problem.... it's like a voodoo ritual

It doesn't suck that much. I can switch between fullscreen and windowed mode in tremulous instantly with no vid_restart at all. This doesn't work on windows for me.

I got this weird behaviour only with 1.2.10 :(

u would probably need other dependencies as well, creating a mess. u could try the grumpy groundhog repository...

SDL has very little dependencies, and a very good compatibility between versions.

But if you want to minimise the risks, you can probably compile your own SDL 1.2.11 version and use an LD_LIBRARY_PATH trick to make tremulous and only tremulous use that one.
Title: Britness
Post by: durand on October 04, 2006, 08:07:13 pm
oh ok, how do u do the ld_library_path trick?
Title: Britness
Post by: Stof on October 04, 2006, 08:26:22 pm
Something like :
Code: [Select]
$export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=./lib
$ll ./lib
total 400
lrwxrwxrwx  1 stof stof     19 jui 15 20:20 libSDL-1.2.so.0 -> libSDL-1.2.so.0.0.5*
-rwxr-xr-x  1 stof stof 405239 jui 15 20:20 libSDL-1.2.so.0.0.5*
$tremulous

That way, tremulous will look for libSDL first in the ./lib folder, and then in the standard location. Be careful with relative paths though.

Edit : fucking stupid phpBB that stupidly closed for me the code tag. I hate dumb programs that act as if they are smart
