it seems as though i get more kills as a cretch than a dragoon.... i don't get it... as soon as i turn goon, i try to kill someone, but nooooooo i get the shaft... what am i doing wrong as a goon? should i pounce on someone? (dosn't work for me...) or meebe i'm not hitting them alltogether?! idk. is there a certain spot i have to aim for other than the head? cause man am i getting "ticked off"
-
depends where you are playing
goon has been raped on some servers, you can no longer pounce and immediatly slash, or if you do, it cancels out the pounce damage
pounce for a long range attack slash for short range
the goons strength lies in its agility so pounce around alot and dodge as much as you can
-
hmm. good tip. thanks.
-
lag will effect you bad aswell so dont play on huge servers etc
practice makes perfect i guess
-
Pounce in, chomp heads at most 6/(# of attackers) times and pounce out. If you can't hit any of those chomps, you either need to practice more or you just met a pro you won't be able to chomp for a loooong time.
-
ok, ok. i get it now. since i'm a big fan of "button-mash" i can now see that it dosn't play out. so what y'all are saying is space out the time between me clicking, and the human being in range. right? so don't button-mash. lol
-
Im a somewhat decent goon, and would advise you to practise your pounce technique for movement. A running goon is a dead goon and the pounce is the only way for a goon to escape. I always go for the headshot which is very effective against an s1 human, regardless of armor. Dont button mash as the goon will only strike so fast anyway.

If you are gooning against stage 1 humans, it often doesn't make sense to focus on one player. Dragoons are very powerful against stage 1 humans, killing everything in 1 or 2 hits. Don't waste the time you could be using catapulting your team to stage 2 or stage 3.
And be careful about shotguns and chainguns especially.
Against stage 2 humans, it takes more hits to kill humans and you have to place your shots carefully and predict what your opponent will do much more. If you can't do that, you will find any old human with a helmet killing you.
Against stage 3 humans, you might be in trouble. I can tell you all the things you have to be worried about, but none of that will help; by the time you are ready to take on stage 3 humans, you should be able to figure out what you need to do.
A dragoon does not attack very rapidly so chomp only when you think you can hit. Clicking radpidly or holding down the fire button will not help you at all.

i'm in the same boat... i can do pretty well with dretch, but anything inbetween dretch and adv-goon, i jsut can't seem to get any hits.
With dretch, i usually do the 'camp above a doorway, follow, and wait for a good headshot opportunity,' but i haven't had any luck actually being offensive, as a goon usually does.
I'm adicted to the advantages of humans and dretches:
long range, and speed, respectively.

The easiest to pick up is Mara. You won't have trouble controling it but it will take some time to get great with it. I use dretch and goon at S1, mara/adv mara through S2 and S3. I'm very good with a tyrant as well (tyrants are harder then people assume) but I prefer the adv maras agility and grace.
It's a cake taking down Bsuits.
-
so... i just played for a bit with different aliens, and i think i've found one that suits me pretty well --
basalisk!!
i need more practice, but i may be one of those few who actually likes da bugga
-
aliens are generally harder to play with, and i play with them alot as they are fun, and because my aim sux0rz
there are always players better than you tho lol
last night i was playing and getting pwned by dretches with amour and helmets, ( to be fair my aim sucks), but you can see how quikcly you can kill people as a dretch if your good
same with adv mara, i got pwned way easily lol
another goon tip is to run away when youve got around 100hp, so that you can make your escape without getting gunned down

Keep :dretch: ing!

id say dont even worry bout bein all that great wit goon...after s1 they just get owned b/c they cant 1 hit anymore its harder to kill a mara than a goon...goons r pieces of cake to run down...maras doin the wall jump thing is a dif story
-
You obviously have not come across a proper Goon. A proper Goon owns any S2 Human. That's why they are so insanely strong vs S1 Humans.

i agree.... i've been figuring out that myself lately... slowly but surely.. the other day i pwned 2 semi-noobs. i got like 16 to like 2&3 i was alium! so i think i'm getting better
-
theres always gonna be ppl who can own u wit any class, but for the most part its harder for me 2 kill maras, im not talking about ppl like kattana...
-
Protip: Bite their heads until they die.

indeed. Its all depends on where the "pros" are in the teams. A goon can pwn a chainsuit, if he is alone. Even a skilled suit (not pro though). Its one of the most universal casses on aliens, also taking that the dimensions of it are close to humans, so they can get pretty much everywhere.
The only thing to know is:
There is no crosshair, you can make it with HUD mods, or with a grain of salt in mid of monitor, whatever suits you. (I play without it, no need).
The chomp angle is quite narrow, unlike tyrants. Its about 20-30 degrees from the line of attack.
And also, if someone is trying to tell that unlagged favours humans, this is so not true, if you play on unlagged, goon headchomps are easy.

Sweet necro.

Kattana, you should win an award for this necro. Very smooth with the timing.
