Lately more and more players are joining games just to decon everything in sight before leaving. If we are playing privately, the other team will wait until the base is reset. If it is a public game, the other team never has that type of etiquette. We would vote kick the deconners quickly if we could, but, although they show up in the vote list, when you try to vote, the game says this person is not a member of the game.
What options do we have? What to do?

You could get designated builders on the server and learn to use the feature properly.
-
dont use the designated builder patch. its lame. use allowbuild/denybuild. if you know how to write scripts, make it so that every unnamed player automatically gets building denied.

That is a possibility on my server, but not others. Also, as I mentioned on and earlier thread-
"I (and others I know) tend to avoid servers with designated builders and protected buildings. Although it takes care of some problems, it creates way too many other issues.
Too often the builder, after base building is complete, takes off to fight, doesn't maintain the base and no one can do anything about it. I've also been on servers where the builder gets a phone call and parks himself in a corner for the rest of the game and no one can do anything about what was already built. This is especially a problem when it comes time to convert some turrets to Teslas or if a move is made at S2.
It's not a big problem now as we just don't go to those servers, but if too many servers adopt this SSM, then I see it becoming more of an issue."
Too many jerks out there I guess.

Unfortunately I have no experience dealing with such things, I'd just like to point out to bazuka that the majority of deconners are not "unnamed player"

By the time you actually get "denybuild entered, the damage is done. (And I agree, I think it is lame, but that is just my opinion and opinions are like...) Thanks for the suggestion though.

but if you take to the fact about how many are 'UnnamedPlayer's it would help, most people who decon now a days rename themselfs either before they connect to the server or as they are connecting.

I'll give you that. At least it's a partial solution to the problem.

Well that explains alot. Logged onto Yaknet yesterday and spawned as a granger like normal (I like to spawn as a granger when I first join aliens and scope out the base, see if there's any improvements I can make if the team doesn't mind). Before I even get a chance to say "hi" to everybody, somebody starts a vote kick. Sooo, instead of saying "hi" I say "what the hell?" and the retard who started to vote said, "sd" I kindly informed him he could have just said so instead of trying to kick me as I spawn for the first time and everything was all good.
Still, that's a bit of an over reaction I think, especially since I'm a yaknet regular and I'ld never seen that shmuck there before.

Same here. I spawned on AKKA the other day as a Hummie builder for the same reason and was kicked before I even looked around. Even though I have played there before, it makes me doubt I will again. They seem to have some maturity problems over there.

It takes 30 seconds top to /teamvote designate another builder AND structure protection doesn't prevent you from repeairing or rebuilding lost structures. It merely keeps nondesignated players from deconning the existing ones. If you have time to get ready for base move or defense upgrade, you also have enough time to /teamvote designate someone else. If it's a forced move, structure protection doesn't interfere at all.
And as I said already, denybuild is too restrictive and you have to use it on anyone you don't know to protect your base. Designated builders protect your base from deconners without creating unnecessary restrictions on other builder actions. Denybuild is for keeping noobs from stealing free build points. Designated builder is for keeping them from freeing those build points in the first place.

What would be really neat is a 'rewind' vote... have all buildings go back to their state 1min ago :)
As for now, i haven't really found deconners to be a huge problem. Just every now and then.
