Title: Unagresive humans.
Post by: Molog on March 22, 2004, 03:23:08 am
From my experience in several games humans seem to be too scared to get out of their base.  Think it's partly because of fear of leaving base undefended . A lucky alien might take out reactor, spelling instant loss for humans. And humans seem to be too scared of the stream of aliens  :).

To combat this annoying behavior you might want to reduce the health of the soldier or upgrade the damage of the rifle, so humans start rushing more to get the easy frags. If you reduce money given for soldiers this should work out the same.

Just an idea.

I agree.  I rarely camp in games, but when going human I tend to spend a lot of time now sitting on top of the reactor :)

I think a little more ammo wouldn't go amiss either (particularly for the Lasgun).

I'm not too sure about my solution. Might make things worse.

One thing that I like about the way tremulous currently works is that camping leads to losing. Now that only needs to be more clear to the people playing.

Maybe give humans radiation poisoning if they spend to much time near reactor :).

Humans have a very slim chance of survival outside the base. It is a must for humans to run around in teams. (with the shotgun of course, eh Godmil :O )

I'm still picking pellets out of my ass  :(

I'd still like to see a little more human ammo, like one more clip for the machinegun, 150cells for the las gun, and maybe the blaster doing 10 damage per blast (I think its generally 5 at the moment?).

Wouldn't it just be easier to upgrade the buildings hit points to make them last longer?  Like the higher the tech the tougher the structures get.  Right now a chim/hydra can march into a base, and single handedly level everything within a short time span.

Just a thought

I'd kind of like to see the teams get more build points when they evolve/get reinforcements. And it also might be a good idea to have something to balance structures with player load, such as increasing the health of structures in bigger games. Something to think about.

I agree on the part where you state that structures should get more HP when the team evolves, I also think the radiation poisoning thing from Godmil is actually a great idea. Finally, the damage the blaster does is really too low in my opinion, it takes ages to even kill a soldier with that thing. Upping the dmg a bit might even move people to use the blaster! Nothing wrong with the rate of fire or the speed of blasts though, it's a real skill weapon ;-)
